Your partner needs to be ready as well. I swore that DH was trying to sabotage the whole the thing for me. If he dressed DD of a morning he would put a nappy on her. If we were heading out shopping he insisted she be in a nappy as he didn't want delays with finding toilets etc He is just a stubborn individual, even trying to get him to stop just so you get a drink before a headache hits is just a hassle, so imagine the urgency of a toddler needing a toilet. So I think that put us back a couple of steps, he has come around to it now thankfully.
I completely understand the laziness factor, the first few outings were a stress, but are much easier now.
