Question Help, opinions and advice please.

XH uses terry flats (cloth nappies) at home. I used to when I lived there, but living with my parents has made this impossible.

The issue is, that Ned has very wide thighs. He is about to turn two, and I will be toilet training him this summer. Over the last year (since I left XH) he has had absolutely terrible nappy rash over his thighs. The doctor says it's because the covers that XH uses are too tight, and that XH isn't changing him anywhere near often enough. As a result, Ned has thrush, excema and a rash over all his thighs. The poor little mite has been in such pain.

Anyway, I'd been trying to get XH to stop using cloth for two weeks to give Ned's thighs a chance to heal, but it was only when the doctor threatened to call DoHS (DOCS for those in NSW/QLD) that this actually happened. XH also hasn't bought ANY new covers, well ever, but certainly since I left Ned has no new covers. So the ones XH is using are twelve months old, and probably at best a size 1-2 (ie 11-14 kilos approx).

So I'm going to buy XH a few new covers, because I believe if he wants to use cloth he should, but not at the expense of our son's skin. I have discussed this with XH and explained what I thought was best - he's happy for me to do the looking. He won't use anything knitted, and IMHO the easier the better, IYKWIM!

I need to know what would be "best", or what your suggestions are, in respect of covers. XH will continue to use the terry flats. Ned is wearing size 2-3 (mostly 3s) and has very strong, wide thighs. He weighs about 16.5 kilos.

Links (via PM) or suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Divvy, what a buggar. Poor little Ned too.

What about Fluffies ?? You know the fluffy covered pants ? Would he perhaps try them out.

Not sure what else to suggest, other than letting Ned go nappy free for a while. Will your ex be in that too ??

Nope, Trish, he's not into that. He has fluffies at the moment, but I'm pretty sure they're size 2, and that's what is causing the abrasion, rash, thrush and excema. I bought them just before I left, so I'm pretty sure they are 2s. I haven't seen them in 3s though? Do you know whether they come in threes?

    Thanks

Sorry hun, I don't think you can get them in 3's. What a pita, quite literally.

Oh, on another note, I noticed your sig has changed
    Good luck on both fronts.

    hi divvy

sorry to hear about poor little Neds sore bits! Im no cloth nappy expert but the covers i use are really good, archie doesn't have huge thighs though, and the covers aren't the cheapest either. I got them from Darlings Downunder on the net, they are Mother Ease Airflow PUL covers but i think size 2 is the biggest they goand i can't remember what weight they are meant to fit up to...the thigh can go to a pretty big size...anyway HTH andi hope you find a solution to Neds sore legs.

We have Bummis covers which seem to work quite well. They use terry flats at childcare and the covers seem to contain everything, going by the poo on the covers. They are made of PUL so should be fairly breathable. You can get them at various places on the web eg darlings downunder. They cost $17 and I notice that the large size goes up to 18kgs.

I'd go the bummis or Baby Beehinds for PUL or maybe some fleece covers which are more breathable. Some of the WAHM ones are a good price. Tot Bots are pretty food in fleece
