Just on another issue - if you want to look at a bought pattern, the LTK patterns are pretty good. They have a range of patterns, and are really pretty affordable if you are making a few of them.
I think machine wash wool doesn't lanolise as well as some of the others (althought in saying that I've never had a big problem with it).
