Well i need to ask and too embarressing to ask to the store lol.
How do you know when to go up a size in nappies....
i understand if they are too big you can get leakage but what about when too small?
Is it when the tabs cant touch the front ? or when?
Woolies (safeway) have huggies nappies on sale and i have about 100 newborn left. At the moment we go through about 50 a week (gee that sounds like a lot) - so about 2 weeks left.
Ashley has put on 1.2kg in 4 weeks and it 3.8kg now....
should i buy the next size up or more newborn to last the next month? -
It's really up to you when to change sizes. I've found that even when the tabs don't touch in the centre they are still fine for Zander. If you do buy them in newborn size & find before you open the box that you need to go up a size, you'll be able to swap them over. Most places are fine with changing nappy sizes.
I went up to the next size when I found the nappy would get quite wet quickly and leak because it was so full (obviously if it's only be recently changed lol) Also when it gets a bit too tight to put on
I always go up a size early, because DS has chunky thighs. We use huggies, so I went up to the infant size after a few weeks (DS was 4.64kg at birth), and if I known the inbetween size existed, be probably would have started in that.
At his weigh-in a month ago he was 12.1kg, and he is currently in 13-18kg nappies, and sometimes even they seem too small.
just remember that the next size up which is infant dont come in a box!! only the plastic packets, the next boxed size are the crawlers and they will be too big
We don't follow the kgs at all as DS is tall and skinny - we go by the "wee-thru" factor. When he starts to wet thru every 2nd nappy volumetrically, we go up a size...
I had the same question going through my mind for days!!! We started prem nappies (it was hospital brand) and then I went to newborn after a weekend of washing everything!!! Vests, bedding, babygrows!! So I would also say use the wee-thru method. kg don't work for me at all
We used Newborn nappies until Claire was about 3 - 3.5 months - I think she was around 5kg by then. We only started using Infant size in the last few weeks. We went up a size because she had started leaking out of the newborn nappies quite often, although they did still fit her little bum just fine. The bigger sizes have more absorbancy as well as just being bigger and your baby might need that extra absorbancy before they are out the the weight range. The weights on the packaging are just guidelines to give you a rough idea.
Yep we change sizes when we start getting leaks as well. Though I think there was one occasion he went up to the next size because he was borderline on the kgs measure and that worked out fine for us as well.
