DD is similar, she'll start trying to take her clothes off when she's pooped So far I've had no success knowing before if she's going to do it though, it's always after. So I just keep talking to her about it - "Have you done a poo? Doesn't it feel nice in the nappy?" etc.
She also follows me to the toilet every single time - bit gross but I talk to her about that too, so she knows I'm doing what she does in the nappy.
As for the potty, you could give it a go, you never know how keen she might be! We bought a potty when we realised every morning about 15 minutes after waking DD does the biggest wee ever. We thought instead of wasting a nappy for that time we could sit her on the potty. She won't have a bar of it! But you may have more luck than us :-)
