my girls get red raw with huggies and the elastic at the back (no matter what size) rubs and gets raw too. I'd go aldi or snugglers (even though they're made by the same company as huggies we have no problems with them.
I'd go Toddler based on his age (don't let the names of them fool you, they are just 'names' and not necessarily and indication of when they should be wearing them). DD has been in Toddler for ages, we've only just changed her to Walkers this week.
DD has never had nappy rash from Huggies, only from a few nasty poos. Each baby is different though but Huggies have been clinically proven to have the least likelihood of nappy rash - my dad was a Huggies rep for 17 years so I've heard a few ins and outs about them. We even tested their wetness capabilities with glasses of water on our kitchen bench when I was a teenager! Too funny! I always use a nappy paste or Sudocream just as a barrier anyway, always have. They are truly unbelievable how much liquid they can hold and still feel dry.
Just so you know, Snugglers are made by the same company as Huggies, they are just a slightly cheaper version
DD is roughly 12kg now but I got for the size 13-18KG ones. We started buying that size when she was about 10kg. So how much does your DS weigh? You say he's a heavy wetter so maybe you might have to do the up size thing. They look a little big when you first put them on but the capacity is a bit more. If we went lower weight range she'd flood the bed for sure.
ETA: Yeah, don't go on the names, go on weight range. The names are pretty misleading.
Thanks gals. DS was around 10kg at his 8mth weigh in - he's 10mths now. I'm spewing I didn't think to try a couple before Monday... The last thing I need at sleep school is nappy rash or overnight leaks, which is why I'm so concerned...
I've used huggies for over 2 years with no reactions and the only leakage is from when they have to go up a size, but if bubby has sensitive skin, just use a barrier cream with them.
I used Huggies for a while (only because MIL bought a buttload of them when DS was born) but when I ran out I switched to Target brand Dri Bots, they are great No more leakages, no more rashes, more absorbent and are much cheaper..
Ive used Aldi, babylove and huggies and snugglers and pampers. Tara's a big wetter at night she was best in babylove, the snugglers and pampers and Aldi didnt hold as much and huggies gave her rash
so I rate
1) babylove
2) aldi
3) huggies
4) snugglers
5) pampers
Just thought I'd let you know Huggies are on special at Coles.
We use them, have used others and these ones fit DS the best- he's 'exploded' once, but that would've gone through ten nappies and six plastic wraps. He's got quite a heavy nappy in the morning, and he's never had a wet bed. I'd go toddler for your DSs weight... my son is 2kg under your son's weight and is almost ready to move up to toddler.

What's the worst that can happen if I but a few different brands - I'll have some spares at home that people can use when they come to visit if they need to!
yes go for huggies hun!
no probs with them and they absorb heaps
get size 6-11kg ones- otherwise they will be too big for his legs and the wee with come out of the sides
also if you put him in a onesie they stay on better when they wiggle around

Huggies here, I have a packet of infant sized baby love (minus 3) at home coz I thought they were terrible at keeping everything contained lol, same thing as PP, I've only had problems with huggies when he's needed the next size up (which is soon) and he'll be going up to toddler size, they do have a weight range on the front of the pack for you to compare, best of luck at sleep school
Can i just add...yes, Huggies all the way. DONT DO BABY LOVE....i just bought a box for the first time for my 23mth old. Every morning i got him out of bed he was soaking wet. Ive written to BabyLove and they are sending me a refund. Meanwhile i have a box of babylove nappies unused. Dont waste your money. Buy Huggies.
