I am lost! DD has been aware of toileting for month now and will take herself to the toilet for a wee or a poo at least once a week. But the rest of the time she is clueless. We use cloth nappies and undies and a few training pants but overall she doesn't seem interested.
She uses the potty if I ask her to sit on it and will do a little wee but 10 min later she will wee on the floor. I thought perhaps it was my lack of motivation but we have been solidly in undies for two days and she is still doing the same thing, it's almost like she will wee on command but then when she actually needs to wee she doesn't make the connection.
She will happily use both potty or toilet - I have recently put the potty in the lounge room in case maybe there wasn't enough time to get tot he toilet or just to remind her.
I put her on in the mornings, after a nap, after eating or drinking, we use praise and stickers and she does seem excited about doing a wee/poo in potty/toilet. I ask her often if she needs to go but always get no. Often she will get annoyed if I insist she sits on toilet/potty and I don't want it to be a struggle.
Do I keep persisting? Do we go back to nappies and try again?
My DS was so much easier and was fully trained within a week, I just don't know what we are doing wrong!
She sounds exactly like my son. He is 2 and 1/2 and now fully TT. A few months ago he seemed interested and wanted to wear big boy undies like his older brother, so i tried putting him in undies but he was the same. If i sat him on the toilet or potty he would wee and would even do poo's but if i did not remind him he would just go on the floor! So i put him back into nappies as it was too hard and he was going through like 12 pairs of undies in a day. Then a few months later he was interested again so i tried again and PRESTO!!!!! I don't have to ask him or tell him or remind him he just goes. It's amazing he will be really quiet and i will think that he is doing something naughty and he is actually in the toilet!!!!!!!!!! Yeah!!
So anyway i think that when they are ready they will do it in less then a week, so honestly i would put her back into nappies and try again in a few weeks or something. Good luck:-)

Ps how old is DD?
Thanks Nikki, sorry I forgot I had changed my sig - DD was 2 in march. I guess I was lucky with DS as he toilet trained at 15mths.
Funnily enough she has been dry all day today even after her nap and put herself on the potty. which was a nice surprise so we might persist for a bit longer and see how we go but after talking to a few IRL friends I realise 2 isn't all that old to be starting toilet training
One thing i found that helped my DD back when she was younger, (same age as your DD now) was i got one of those toilet seats from bunning's that is a normal sized toilet seat, with a child's size seat attached. It just flips up.
She felt like a big girl, not using the ppotty, using the big girls toilet, BUT it was comfortable for her. As she didnt feel safe on the big seat.
Yeh, Pap ... we were the same ... DD wouldn't use the potty at all BUT 10mins after i popped a toddler toilet seat on & under the adult toilet seat she was the happiest kid & we never had another problem toilet training
We let her pick her own toilet seat at Target as they were on special at the time Then it felt ' more ' special to her in having chosen the seat
DD1 is TT and this is what worked for us - every 20-30 minutes "its potty time!" put her on. if she did something - throw a party - if not, good girl anyway! sticker for your potty chart.
we had plain stickers for going to the potty and special sparkly ones for wees or poos
we also had the potty in the lounge. within a week she started telling me when she needed to go - so we didnt need to go every half hour. it was hard work but def paid off!
sorry, im typing one handed
HTH!
We have had the best couple of days! She has been dry ALL day today even after her nap and even went to the toilet at the shops! Woohoo.
We have put the potty in the lounge room so that if she is playing etc it's not like I am forever dragging her away from her favourite things to go to the toilet.
She still won't ask for the potty and usually says no f you ask her but I have stopped asking and just said "on the potty" Hoping eventually she will ask but she has started holding until we go potty so fingers crossed it continues.
Thanks so much for your ideas and help - much appreciated
