DD is 2 and 3 months a couple of months ago she started telling me when she did a poo and more recently wees. I started to give her nappy off time and potty time.
She has always been hesitant to do any thing on the potty or toilet but will sit on both for lengthy time periods. I had a few successful days where she did wees and a couple of poos. But since she refuses to sit on either. I thought no biggy I'll just put a nappy on and try again later.
Problem is now she takes her nappy off and pees/poos anywhere, or she'll ask me to put on a nappy just so that she can do her business and then the nappy comes off.
When she wees/poos anywhere I take her to the potty and tell her that is where she should be going not on the floor/carpet/bed or lounge. She verbally reinforces where she should go but she just won't do it.
I am getting frustrated and I've been cranky with her a few times, which I know is wrong.
Any advice?
Have you tryed a star chart? DD was doing something simular once DS came along. Doing up a star chart where she got a star every time she did a wee or poo, i let her put the star up and once she got to 7 stars she got a treat. So far this is working, she still has accidents but its because shes off doing something and forgets.
We did this for about 2 weeks and now she either jumps on the toilet or grabs her potty herself now, we rarely remember the star chart is there
Your further than me...my DD#3 (2.5yrs) will do a poo in her nappy, stink the house totally out, and isnt really fussed if i change her nappy or not !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
YOur daughters behaviour reminds me of DD#2...she was fine with #1's...but #2's she would always ask for a nappy, do her thang, then ask me to change it. She was older than Loren though, closer to 3. I just kept doing this, until she got a little older. We had many a #2's in knickers...which drove me batty, but eventually she did 'get it'.
With my DD#3 now...whom just doesnt seem at all interested in TT...today i was telling her that it was her and mummy's special time, and mummy would take her to the toilet, and no one else is allowed in - not daddy, not harry, no one. She smiled and kinda liked that idea. So i figure if i keep making a fuss, that its me and her in the toilet, its our little thang, then she might be willing to actually sit on there....
Other than that....only other thing i would suggest is, maybe try it in a month or so.....maybe too young just yet????
My goodness I just read my original post and I didn't do a good job of writing it clearly. I was in rush hour with 3 irritable kids around lol.
MBear - I am more than happy to put her nappy back on and forget tt until I know she is really ready, but she won't keep her nappy on I like your suggestion of having special toilet time lol. I had her on the potty this arvo and we were singing a wee song, she loved the song but didn't wee. She weed 5 mins later on her dresser. Yep that is right, she got up onto her dresser and peed.
DD went through that exact thing too, luckily we have wooden floors....would have been a nightmare if we had carpets!!!
She started taking off her nappy and squating on stuff...like the tv remote!! and weeing!! I would take her to the loo each time and sit her there and explain thats where it goes! i taught her 'push' (complete with noises and faces...thank goodness no one else could see me ) and that really helped, took a while but inthe end i just said push and shed do her wees/poos!
i think by telling myself it didnt matter when or if she TTed helped. Now she still wears a nappy but will tell me when she needs to go and does most in the toilet. Good luck, and hugs to you!!
