Hi Amy,

If she seems ready and is showing an interest she might be ready. We also started by buying a potty and we put it next to the "big toilet" in our bathroom. We started by putting her on the potty when we changed her nappies and sometime she would do a wee, sometimes not. She wears MCNs too and so she would have been able to feel when she was wet. I started changing her nappy more often so she would get used to the dry feeling a bit more, iykwim? Maybe you could let her sit on her potty each time you change her nappy, and tell her that if she needs to do a wee she can do it on the potty instead of her nappy. If she is ready, offer her lots of encouragement and praise when she does well, dont make a big fuss if she has an accident.

Anyway, this is really long but i just thought i'd share what Claire does as she is not that much differnt in age to Natalie. We just got Claire to sit on the potty whhen changing her nappy and she was loving using the potty so we got her some little undies and a couple of months ago we put the undies on her and told her to tell us when she needs to do a wee or poo. She had lots of accidents so we decided maybe she was not quite ready so we started nappies again.

Then recently, She told us she wanted to wear undies so we tried the undies again (its getting warmer , yay!) and she had only a couple of accidents. She would stand there and wee and then say "look mummy, I'm weeing!" so she knew what was happening. We wold tell her 'come on, lets go sit on the toilet" and we would help her get to the toilet (potty.. we call it "Claires toilet"). We cleaned up the accident and didnt make a fuss over it, we just told her 'remember to tell mummy next time so you can sit on the toilet' and she started telling us "wee mummy, my toilet" so we would take her in and help her.
So she wore undies again the next weekend and didnt have a single accident. We asked her occassionally if she needed to do a wee and every time she said no. So we reminded her to tell us if she needed to do a wee or poo.
Anyway, she decided she didnt want our help and would just go into the bathroom herself, take off her pants and undies and do what she needed to do. She was so proud of herself and we encouraged her and told her she did really well on the toilet and told her that she was really clever etc etc. We gave her a little sticker sometimes as well. she loves stickers - she sticks them on her nose and thinks its the funniest thing ever.
I also wasnt worried about her seeing me sitting on the toilet and she would always ask "mummy what doing?" and I would tell her "i'm doing a wee on the toilet", and then she would always tell me "wee on toilet". I dont know if that sort of helped it stick in her mind that people do wees on the toilet.
Anyway, she wears nappy for sleeping, I'm not really sure how to tackle the whole night toilet training, but day wasnt too difficult.
