AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Oh goodness me, Don't scare me like that!
ROFL I was thinking the same thing ;)
Angus unthreaded my overlocker the other day and I'm too slack to rethread it  That'll teach me to leave it on the table!
boy that angus is a cheeky one, you'll have to teach him how to rethread it!!!!
hehehehe FJ, BOOOOOOOO :P
I have to rethread my overlocker to sammi.....its nots sewing properly and driving me INSANE!!!!!!!
Mel thanks heaps for organising the fleece :D I love the jungle one so much I don't want to cut it up :p
I might have to make myself some flongies out of the fleece. Thanks a million Mel
good idea Maz lol
Just want to show off another thing I made http://milkfionamilk.blogspot.com/
Looks great FJ. I guess you'll find out soon enough how much real wool is in it ;) Nice wedding pic too BTW :D
Oh la la FJ.
Im covered with lint and material off cuts, Ive been sewing all afternoon. Ive made a pinafold thing to go with the MM pants I made for Vy a few weeks (or was it months pmsl) ago. Vy was helping me off course, presing the foot of the OL while it wasnt needed....grrrrr. Hurt my finger twice!
i feel like getting my knitting needles out again....Im getting sick of sewing ATM
Maz Caleb sits on my o/l foot . He sits on the sewing machine foot too but it's only got a little button so he misses the accelerator most of the time.
I've been cutting out some fleece for some applique ideas today. Had to set up the boys with some scissors and fleece offcuts because they had to join in.
*sigh* wish DH would come home so I can sew in peace. Never mind about missing him ;)
Maz IKWYM about getting out the knitting. I've had a sewing break for a few weeks as I was just over it!
Oh Sammi maybe I need to send you down some scrap fabric so the boys can make hand puppets - my kids love doing that when Im sewing
Bum jumper help. Can someone have a look on my blog & offer some suggestions on how to make longies out of the jumper on there. i want to have the flowers downt he leg if possible. Ta
over my head mate....have no idea. Go and have a sticky, google 'how to make a bum jumper'. sorry cant help!
Ask the NC ppl in the Sewing room FJ - I think there might even be a sticky on it there somewhere?
yeah I have. I have no problem making a bum jumper just have not done it using the sides not the arms...
Mel, just checking that I sent you a PM? Milo has been sick so I'm a bit all over the place, sorry :(
Maz, Making the longies/bum jumper was **** easy. Basically get a pair of Vy's track pants & fold them in half & pull out the crotch so you get a point then trace around the shape. Then use that as your pattern. Cut out the material you want to use so you have 4 bits. First sew up the straight side of each leg then open the (now) 2 bits out & lay them on top of each other. then sew from the top of the waist to the tip of the crotch on both sides. Then flip it around so you now have a pair of pants. Now you just need to sew up & around the inner legs. Make sence??
Just make sure that when you cut your pattern you leave enough at the top & bottom to put your hem & a pocket for the elastic.
I Just Bought A Snap Press!!!
Awesome Fiona Jill! Good for you!
 WTG!
FJ, I am so jealous!
FJ - ROFL - NO you didnt make sence but nothing does to me ATM. Welcome to the wonderful world of snapping...I just bought a heap more snaps yesterday too. YOur going to LOVE it!!!!
I have about 10 nappies ready to be snapped! I can't wait, its going ot meke putting them on Isla so much easier. Atm I just put a cover over it but its so fiddly to get it all on while she is rolling about!
Just thought id share the following info with you
Went to SL last night and the lady there was telling me that QUICKSEW are going to be bringing out a nappy/cover pattern by the end of the year. Very interesting.
I also went to lincraft and found the most goregous material there. Completely different to SL. I bought some with elephants on them and they have butterflies and roses, stuff ive never seen before.
It will be easy enough to go over the snaps on my sandman nappy once I have a snap press hey? Alot of the snaps on it don't snap together because the little prong in the middle isn't squshed enough. if I just squish it again that should fix it right? I'm not very impressed with the make of this nappy. It very "quick" IFYKWIM. Not alot of care to check it over.
Sorry if someone has asked before but what would i need to buy to make a wet bag and where would i get the stuff from to do it ?
I'm getting a sewing machine in a couple of weeks and i want to make one or should i say try to for when my new nappies arrive.
Pul is the best stuff for a wet bag so you get that waterproofness. Try nappiescovered, nappyworks, bubba earth. They all sell PUL some in nappy cut sizes, some by the metre for a wet bag you probably need by the metre. All three have plain and someprinted puls to choose from. HTH :)
Tiny Toosh is another that sells it by the metre.
FJ I think you should email about the snaps on the sandman nappy. If they are faulty then it should be replaced and the WAHM should know about it so she can rectify the situation.
Michelle sus out the cost of wetbags before buying your PUL. They are about $15 - 20ish depending on what you're after. Unless you're going to get into making nappies as well then the cost of buying PUL for just a wet bag may not be economical IYKWIM.
That's just my opinion though ;)
Thanks for that Sammi. I'll check things out i was just trying to think of somethinig that i might be able to make. I've not used a sewing machine for years.
Sammi, I'm not sure if its worth it because it was listed as a Second because of a missplaced snap but really the whole nappy has faults. But I know not everyone is perfect so I don't mind. But alot of the snaps need to be resquished & there is one spot on the booster thingy that the overlocking has missed a bit. But the bit its missed is because there is a snip in the material. I paid $30 for instead of $35 but i guess its still $30... I might send a email like you suggested.
i tells ya it's amazing what oiling the sewing machine can do for noise, she now hums like a wee little bee instead of rumbling like a freight train!!!!!, god i love bernie she's been so good to me!
Im starting to wish I paid the extra for a berinie now too.. F$#$#$ Janome $hit!!!!!! everytime I rethread the machine it plays up..Im ready to throw BOTH of them!
maz i was very lucky to get my late nana's bernina, it's 20 years old, i found the receipt and 20 yr warranty recently, the warrenty ended in april!!!
Sammi, I did send an email like you suggested & I got a reply offering a 10% discount on my next purchase. That was nice of her :)
I must say though, I am a little annoyed that this is the 2nd nappy I have bought where I have emailed the seller about some flaws not discribed when listing it & both times the seller has admitted to knowing there was a problem yet didn't bother to list these things in the items discription! The last one was the one I got off ebay, Tiny Toosh & same thing, she knew there was issues with it yet nothing was said in the listing. Same with the sandman, she actually said she wasn't going to list it at all because it wasn't up to standard! I don't mind getting what I paid for & I know I was bying a "second" with the sandman but it would of been nice for a bit more clearer discription on why the nappy is a "second" because "misplaced snap" doesn't cover it problems.
But Both sellers are helpful & nice so that makes it ok LOL.
Oh no Maz :( Hope it's not sitting in the front yard ATM!
FJ that's good of her to offer a discount. I agree it's frustrating that the product is not as described even as a second.
Ages ago my spool holder stoppy thingy (sorry can't think of a better description) broke and the spool holders fell through into the machine. I've been using my mums old elna but am discovering it's limitations. I went off this arvy on a bit of an expedition to try and get some spare parts so I can use my machine again. My lovely sewing shop ladies don't sell Janome, so off I went to Spotters. They don't sell Janome by the look of it either but I didn't know for sure because there was no one selling in machines as per usual  I ended up at Melb Sewing Centre at the shopping centre and am verrrrry tempted to trade in my machine because I can get a $200 trade in on a machine that includes a walking foot (worth $79 to buy sep) and does a few other tricks that mine doesn't...only problem is I have to fine about $300 still.
I'm kind of keen because I only paid $189 for mine about 13 years ago because I bought it and left it in the shop while I went off doing some other things and a different girl sold it to someone else and because it was a run out model they couldn't get another one, so I got a different machine that was worth $300 or so (was a while ago so details are fuzzy...) so I can get more trade in than what I paid for the thing. It's just not so good timing ATM $$$ wise. *sigh* why do I always find the good deals when I can't afford to buy them.
I might try and layby it if I can.
Thats too good a offer to let slip Sammi, Lay by for sure if you can!
Ooh, I love my Sandman. I was sent a cow print one instead of a plain one and when I rang about it Michelle offered to replace it and said I would get a large snap-in insert for the mix-up, though in the end I decided to keep it as it was better than a plain one. Hehe, I love her SustainableHP emails...even though I never buy anything, I still like reading them as they're always funny.
*sigh* Caty's itti leaked through her daks today onto my parents table cloth....but upon changing it I found it only had the fold up insert inside! Mitch! He's usually really good with nappy stuff and was quite apologetic. Cute. I think guys are quite capable of working out what peices go with which nappy, but they think it's really hard and are quite insecure about their efforts? That's what I find with Mitch anyway.
