You would want a 'stay-dry' fabric, one that wicks the moisture away from your LOs bum and traps it in the microfibre. You can use microfleece or microsuede for this. The microfleece is easiest and is super cheap.
If you want a 100% natural fibre against bubs skin you can use Raw Silk liners - you can buy these as liners from online stores or buy the silk online and cut it yourself.

Lovely and soft against bub's bottom. Also it will absorb moisture as well, microfibre can be prone to compression leaks so tends to work better with another absorbent material. I never had a lot of luck with it myself unless I teamed it with something absorbent.

I think I might buy some of the bamboo you mentioned and buy a sewing machine and make them myself
I will keep my eye on the site though cause bubs is due in Sep so plenty of time... It's a shame that you need a cover for total waterproofing. It looks like itti Bitti also sell microbifre snap ins, not sure if they would go under the velour one or on top but they would still get handled.
and have said to dh several times that I can't believe I even want to use MCN's and to be handling it all rather than the quicker/throw away spossies! I've got bamboo terry and bamboo fleece prefolds for the newborn so that I can use them as boosters in pocket stuffers when bubs is older... I know it will be ample for the little one though but thought if I'm spending the money it may as well be reusable later kwim.
