When I first suspected hormone imbalances and PCOS my own GP wouldn't do any type of blood test.
I then went to a different docter and asked for a referral to an endocrinologist (who specalises in hormones) THE BEST DECISION EVER!!!!!!!
She diagnosed PCOS, hormone imbalances and insulin resistance!! YAY!! FInally some answers.
Not sure where you are located Charmlea and GRacious Goddess but I can reccomend an AWESOME endo in Sydney!
I am about to start seeing a lady from the Chinese Medical Centre. She specialises in hormonal imbalances and other related stuff. I am expecting her to do accupuncture and give me herbs to take. I am placing a lot of hope in her that she will help me get pregnant by balancing out my hormones so I ovulate more regularly.
I also saw a terrific acupuncturist/chinese herballist/naturopath during both pregnancies, and I'm convinced they can work wonders. Try and see someone who specialises in women's health/fertility/pregnancy/etc.
I would recommend finding someone who you can connect with, and who has an interest and experience in treating gynae disorders.
As much as this means shooting myself in the foot, I actually think female practitioners can sometimes be better in these instances - but then there are some brilliant TCM gynae specialists who are male.... basically, find a practitioner whom you feel comfortable with and trust.
Again, TCM has a veeerrry long history of successfully treating gynae disorders - there are very ancient and very many volumes on the subject!
