Thank you all again for your support. I know its helping Heidi & it is certainly helping me.

We have a 95% chance that she will undergo surgery tomorrow afternoon to investigate and rectify whatever is holding her bowel up. The follow up xrays after the gastric dye went in yesterday show that the dye is not moving very much and is essentially stuck in the one spot. Her tummy has blown up again too which isn't a great sign. They are doing one more xray at 8am in the morning and will make a decision about surgery then. There is a very slim chance that she is slowly working up enough pressure in her bowel to get things moving - if she does overnight then we'll possibly avoid surgery but its not looking likely based on today's results. If the surgery is necessary we won't really know what the outcome will be until they get in & have a look around. It could be a kink or knot, it could be a section of the bowel with adhesions or scar tissue from the infection, it could be that a section of her bowel has died. Each scenario presents a different course of action which could result in temporary or permanent changes for her. We just have to wait & see.

Tomorrow is likely to be a very long hard day so we'll just cross all our fingers & toes and hope we get through it.
