k well as many can see ive got like 3 weeks to go now.. and TBH i havent really done anything for the baby yet... ive washed all her clothes n packed some in my hosp bag n thats it..
im moving maybe a month after she is born so i didnt wanna take all her stuff out like cot n that cause i dont want anyone to scratch while moving it cost a fortune...
i still have to get draws for her clothes n im starting to stress im leaving it all late..
do u think i left it late?
when did u have it all done??
Honestly, I don't think it really matters. Lots of parents like to get everything all ready and decorated, but it isn't strictly necessary. Babies need to be fed and kept warm and safe, and that's about it really.
You'll figure out what you do and don't need to do as you go along
Our cot didn't arrive until I was 37 weeks, we had a set of draws with the clothes all washes ready and nap pies etc ready but no other stuff set up
I went into labour at 38weeks 2 days and was in labour for three days at home.
I remember laying,on the floor on all fours during contractions whilst dh set up the cot and changeable and quickly arranged all the lotions and potions.
I could hardly help and wished I had done that sort of stuff earlier as he was my first baby and I ordered the furniture at 12 weeks lol
but it all was done by the time I gave birth and ds slept in our room in his bassinet until 6 months old anyway so it was really just for us, and to store all his new stuff..... Until he was a bit older.... And definitely don't put up the cot if you are moving, it probably won't fit throughout the door set up , like mine and if you aren't using it straight away why bother????
I wouldn't let it stress you at this point, bub won't remember where her clothes were kept when she first comes home, as long as she has you she'll be right I left it quite late in my pregnancy to sort out bub's room (after I finished work so after 38 weeks), and found everyone else seemed more worried about it then me!
I wouldnt worry about it really. Well I lie I would. :P I love being organised. My mum is stressing out about the babys room now, she has been asking me for weeks if ive started lol
Neither of my kids have had a room done as they both slept in a basinette in our room for the few months. My sons clothes were kept on the floor of his wardrobe and in a washing basket until his draws arrived and DD's were kept in boxes for a month as we were moving 2 weeks after she was born. I have only just finished decorating their rooms now and DD is 3 1/2 and DS is 15 months and both of my kids are fine.
Don't stress about it. There is heaps of time.
About 6 months after he was born lol! We were (still are!) in the process of renovating so his room had no flooring or curtains. All his furniture was dismantled until a couple of days before we moved him in there. Until then he slept in with us. Because we were co sleeping it wasn't a big deal but I remember feeling very sorry for myself that I had no nursery to show off!
As long as they have somewhere to sleep and you have a place to store their clothes (even if that place is a box) nothing else matters. If you're moving soon I can understand why you'd want to wait.
Thanks ladies, im normally very organised thats how i was with my boys all done by at least 7 months lol
but i think due to the fact we r moving after im sort of like stuff it but im still worried deep down i feel like ive done less for her then i used to do for the boys IYKWIM??
but like use said she will only need me n to be fed, loved n kept warm!!!!
thanks
Gosh Amali, my son still hasn't made it into his own real room! When we brought Pip home from hospital, we had put his cradle in our walk-in wardrobe and that's where he stayed until 9 months, when he outgrew his cradle - the cot wouldn't fit in there, and we had to hurriedly finish renovating our bedroom so he would be able to fit into our joined study upstairs!
This time we're working on getting Pip's room sorted so he can move out of the study, and we can set that up as a nursery. Least last weekend we finally moved the computers and desks out of the room and it doesn't look like a stationery cupboard.
Don't stress - you're moving home, your PP would rather a loving mum than a beautiful room for a month, and then boxes! Least you'll be able to set up the new house the way you want before you move her in!
