I've been investigating baby hammocks instead of cots/basinettes etc.
From what I can tell the main ones available are the Amby Hammock (are they US or Australian?) or the Nature's Sway from NZ - being a kiwi I'm a bit biased towards this one but wanted to hear from anyone who's had experience with either....
How long did you use them for and did you find them easy to use/safe/portable enough?
I used an Amby baby hammock (Australian made ) for DS1 and it was brilliant. It was extremely easy to use and very portable. It packs up smaller than a portacot so it was great to take away on holidays. I used it until DS was nearly 2, but most people don't use them that long!
Thanks Trish
I hadn't realised there's already a thread on this subject. Glad to hear the Amby is Australian and not yankee
It doesn't seem as though anyone has used the Nature's Sway though - I'm definately sold on the hammock - just wanting to know the relative merrits of each IYKWIM.....
I've just started using an amby baby hammock (for approx 1 week now.) as DS#2 has really bad wind and so far he seems to be sleeping better and isn't waking up screaming like he was when he was in his bassinet which I used for the first 2 weeks
they say you can use them for approx birth - 12 months depending on baby weight and length
the amby hammocks cost approx $300+ but you can also hire hammocks as a cheaper option, so it may be worth a look
