I have heard nothing but good reviews on it and I love that it tells you the room temp...
Baby unit can used with batteries and mains so I'm able to take it with me where ever.
Hey Nae, Another Angel care user here. We have the more basic model without the temp etc. Just the breathing and sound. Very essential for us!
We have a grobag egg for the room temp, they didn't have that fancy one when we got our but would have it would be good to have it all in one!

We went with the Oregon scientific (****smith has them)
It has the room temp displayed on both units (and parent one can be set to give alerts at high and low temps). The baby unit runs on mains power and the parent one on rechargeable batteries (like the cordless phone ones) It has the lights and sounds alerts for us. Also the baby unit will play music, white noise or running water which can be on all the time or preset to turn off.
From memory I think it was about $120. We love it!! Even tho we dont use it as a monitor most nights, DS loves the white noise to fall asleep to
The only down side is all the buttons are down the sides of the unit and I am constantly bumping them lol

We didnt go with the Angelcare as we had been so reliant on constant monitoring during our son's time in hospt that our cardiologist advised us to do without and just have him in the room with us - so we did that for 14 months.
We have a Tomy Walkabout Premier. It has temp display and can be used switched from high to low sensitivity. It also has a night light on the babies unit and a light display on the parents unit - that shows how loud the cry is if you have the sound off (we dont do that) or if when bubs was small I used it in the bathroom while in the shower so I could "see" him cry as I could "hear" him cry as I was under the water. Works really well, and only cost around $80 (few years ago) and is still used now when DS is in his room at night and we are in lounge (other end of house) watching TV.
Dont use it overnight if DS room is open as I can hear him but with his door closed and heater on I need to use it still (and his is 5yrs next month ).
just one more thing - do you think that a secondhand monitor would be ok? There are a few on Ebay in the Angelcare brand 201, 301 and now the 401 (which is new and is about $300).
Would you say a second would be ok rather than buying brand new or would you buy brand new?
Dh is not keen on sharing our bed or room with bub TBH it doesn't bother me either way at this stage but that may change when bubbie is here with us. Also with the 20 min alarm thing did that bother anyone when they were trying to get rest?
do you mean the alarm if baby does not take a breath in 20 seconds?? This only goes off if baby holds breath, stops breathing or wriggles of pads.
DH also didnt want to co sleep or baby in room but in hospital DS was in bed with us some nights.
We bought a new one as new model was only released 2 weeks before we bought it and also will use for 2 babies so figured was worth money. You could get a 2nd hand but I would want to pay no more than 1/2 price of new otherwise would get a new one.
