Is it ridiculous to go all out now?

Seeing as this is my last baby I was thinking unlike before, that maybe I should go all out decorating the nursery. I never got around to it with the other two because they both were/will be kicked out of the nursery into big boy rooms by the time the new baby was born.

Im thinking I should celebrate and be excited instead of upset that this is it. He will stay in the nursery/cot until he's atleast 2 and then we'll switch it over to a 'big boy' room.

Do you think it would be a waste of money? I want to get nice cot sheets, some decorations (like pictures etc), a rug, all that jazz.

Im going to be doing up the big boys rooms anyway as they are looking a little bare too.

Last time round we were not able to do much for DS, and I always looked forward to doing up a proper baby room for my next one. Well, next one is coming and our circumstances are different, but still not able to do a baby room (we only have 2 bedrooms!) so I say if your happy to spend some money and time go for it. Work out with your partner what is a happy and comfortable budget. Personally I wouldnt spend too much, but thats me. I think a nice room can be made up with a bit of planning and looking round to get ideas. And you can always add more to the room once baby gets a bit bigger - it doesnt need to all be 'perfect and finished' in advance does it?

I think I might go for it. Dh is happy to let me do whatever but Im a save $$ if I can person so everything will be bought on sale lol

I just think it would make me feel better about this preg. I have all boys so last preg I didnt buy anything bar one or two little outfits as I had 'everything' so to speak. I think its made my preg a bit more unexciting because I cant go shop for clothes and things. But he's the last one so why the heck not, I can sell/give it all away once he's grown.

If he had been she this would be a moot point cause I would have decorated like Martha Stewart possessed me for sure

Yep, i say go for it....seeing as its likely your last too, go all out with a big bang !!!!!! Its also enjoying for you....and your lil boys you already have. Like a present to their new baby brother !!!!

    Enjoy !

ETA: There are heaps of baby stores online that have discontinued bed linen with matching rugs etc. I got my DD#3 a her whole bedroom nursery from discontinued items, and i reckon i did it for under $100!!!!

I say go all out too. I got everything matching for DD#1. When I found out I was expecting another girl I had the same feelings as you - no point buying clothes etc because DD#1's would be fine for #2. Hasn't worked that way - DD#2 has the same ridiculous amount of clothing that she will never wear out and her own beautiful nursery. I think each child deserves to be made a fuss of and have lovely things of their own, whether they are the same sex as their older sibling or not (and whether they know it or not!)

DO IT!!! I have the same point with DH. This is my last bub and I want to do it how I always imagined it. we have spent a bit more already, on things like a travel system (I always wanted a capsule) and our change table (absolutely perfect, it fits all our nappies and nappy accessories in it). We are still discussing which room will be the baby's room.
