Baby walkers, what one do you have?

Im Wanting to get Grace who will be around 9 months a walker for xmas this year.
But wanting a really good one that will last etc
What type of walker did you get your child and would you recommend it?
and any other details about the walker you got ?

They are generally not recommended as it is very easy for a baby to have an accident with them...and being held in that position is not good for their hips and pelvis. My stepmother is a podiatrist and was talking about baby walkers encouraging tippy toe walking and therefore delaying proper walking and made me promise not to get one when my DS was only a newborn!

I hadn't really planned on ever getting one anyway because I have only read negative things about them and I am mystified as to why they are still sold when they get so much bad press...but I have seen babies in them and I know they love them.

I would get a little push trolley or something like that, so when she is standing confidently on her own and starting to think about taking steps on her own she can push that around for practice and support but won't be confined and will be putting her weight properly on her feet. You can get ones that convert to a little ride-on bike type of thing once they are walking confidently so it will "grow" with them.

We got a cheap one second hand from the local paper. Had winnie-the-pooh on it and 2 x interchangeable attachments for the tray top thingy.

I took the wheels off ours and used it as more of a play centre toy. Also worked wonders when we went camping as it could double as a high chair. Good for feeding outside at bbq's, we also took it to friends houses when we went for dinner if they didn't have baby items.

I have a steelcraft one that looks like a car. It is a walker with a seat, then as bub gets to a walking stage, the seat pushes in and it gets pushed, so it worked 2 stages for us.

My DD couldn't us it on the carpet, but it was a race track on tiles so she wasn't on the tiles much.

All 5 of my kids have had walkers but I'm sorry I don't remember the brands. I know my sons was a car shaped one. I seen Toys'r'us have some really nice ones so I will go there when I think bub is ready. My kids have had any accidents in them or walking problems. As long as it's not all the time and you have gates near seats you will be fine They are great when you need your hands free like for vacuuming bub can follow you

I dont know that this will help, but I choose not to get ds a walker as it wasnt recommended by our physiotherapist and i believe most arnt as they dont promote healthy walking but can in fact promote children to walk on their tip toes and lead them to having problems learning to walk...

Yes I agree, they can be quite dangerous with falls, squashed fingers, etc too, but apart from that, babies need to be allowed to walk in their own time, once their legs are developed enough as well as the muscles, ligaments, balance, etc, etc.

we got ours in target its a winnie the pooh one and its done 2 kids and is still in GREAT condition and will do this baby too

we didnt get one, but we found that she would push anything with wheels!!!
We have a BBQ frame that had no BBQ on it (u know like the webber ones) and she crawlled over to that one day out in the garden and pulled herself up and pushed that around!

She also pushed chairs and small tables around and toddler bikes

Jack had a target one shaped like a car

but at 9mths you may find she is a little old for the traditional sit in walker you may be better off with something like a stride to ride walker from fischer price, where the walk behind it then it turns into a bike

I know Jack was out of his walker by 8 mths or so something to think about
