We got a blue one, a Moses type basket ( with handles) from babies r us, toys r us might have them if you don't have a babies r us near you

Mil actually bought it for me whilst I was in the hospital with ds we could use it beside our bed and take ds out to cares etc without disturbing him

He only grew out of it at 6 months old when he was too big and heavy lol

They had pink and green too and it has a half cover, shade on it.

I found Moo's bassinett in a second hand babys good shop online. Try googling or look on ebay. I wanted a particular style that I couldn't find in mainstream baby shops; a wooden cradle type that was on wheels so we could move him from room to room. Like you we didn't like those little frilly ones!
He slept in it til he was 6 months old as it was just so much bigger.

We have a Mother's Choice Coco. It's not your typical frilly bassinette, and not on cheap plastic castors, which were the 2 main reasons that DH saw it and straight away said "that's the one". We were never intending to move it around the house, so didn't bother with one on wheels, but on the few times we did move it from room to room, it was light and fairly easy to carry. It's got a rectangle mattress and is a bit bigger than some others and our DD stayed in it for a good 5-6 months.

If you don't like the frills etc. maybe a cradle or hammock would be a better option for you? I got ours for $20 on ebay, I repainted it and got a new mattress cut at Clarks. We used it for 8 weeks with DD and then for DS we used an Amby baby hammock for around 6 mths.

I got a basinette attachment from a pram off ebay for $50. It came with a stand and hood and everything, but yeah, did fine for DD2 for a few months till I was ready for her to go into a cot. I'll use it again for the next one too. No frills on it.. haha!

Thanks Girls. AE I too have a bassinet attachment from DD's pram which I forgot all about.

With all the stuff about SIDS though are they same to use?

I have no idea to be honest. We always use a breathing monitor so don't always follow the guidelines (ie, our babies sleep on their tummies)
