yup - all australian i think - australian timbers etc - i'd say the drop in the value of the aussie dollar has meant they have no choice

but 30% is going to put most of their pieces up around the $1000 mark - i kinda felt bad paying $700 ish for a cot (but i like it and will do however many kids we have!)

Yep, some things are so well made that you don't mind paying a premium. I'm the same with my pram... people can't believe I paid nearly a grand for my pram (and attachments) but it's (an Emmaljunga) the only pram with the quality I need.... it's my car (I don't drive)... I don't care what I have to pay.

    fair call bath

elli - i may be mistaken - boori is made from australian timber, and the website is Au based.

it all comes with a five year manufacturers warranty - that's pretty impressive by toda'ys standards

The Boori range has always been of fantastic quality & I personally am happy to pay for quality ,however i think a 30% increase in price in one go is a little steep, especially when there is more things to buy for bubs then just a cot!

I think you're right Beeg, a 30% hike is going to make it inaccessible to a whole lot more people.

    They are lovely aren't they.

Maybe with the current economic downturn/crisis consumers will have to get used to this kind of thing happening... be prepared to pay more or see the entire company fold I'd be devestated if Emmaljunga folded... no other pram company makes a pram with as much actual metal as Emma... the rest are just too plasticy. I think as consumers we are just going to have to assess our priorities a bit more carefully... choose quality over quantity... I don't think we can have both for much longer. It's going to be hard for many people i agree... but ideally people will opt for quality (they won't be able to afford to keep buying replacements, like the old days, things HAD to last)... and ideally companies producing poor quality products will fold... not the ones making high quality products. Here's hoping anyhow.

i have no issue paying for quality either - and even though kingparrot are made by boori, it just did nothing for me (we have mostly antique or antique-looking furniture) - i figured it might be more to pay, but i would rather have something we liked that would last, as opposed to something we were kinda "meh" about, and would want to replace. it also becomes a junior bed and couch afterwards, so it will get enough use to justify the expense. we got boori drawers as well - not the nappy stand ones as they have a specific purpose - just the normal ones that are ornate and can have a nappy mat on top.

Bath - i completely understand why you handed over big bucks for your pram - it makes complete sense not to compromise on quality, especially when you will use it so much. we talked about all the different prams - and for us, the thing that kept coming bac was that we'd have to drive most places we go, and the pram wouldn't be used as much - it would be more for shopping and things like that. maybe a bit of walking around town (though we have huge hills and more likely to sling it to be honest) so couldn't, in our circs, justify a huge expense. we didn't got an el cheapo (got a travel system set) but didn't hit the mega bucks of some of them. i did a lot of research first.

i think if we hadn't already ordered everything (so get them at prices that they're at NOW) i would have still ordered the boori cot for the above reasons, but the other little things (like under cot drawer or the other drawer set) - they might have been rethought...
