The anti-submarine clip? It stops the lap belt from riding up onto the stomach and causing abdominal injury in the event of a collision. The lap belt should sit over the child's hips, not the stomach.
Ok after reading everything and researching our options - we had to make a hurried decision yesterday for a new seat because DD1's shoulders were wayyyy above the last shoulder slot of the straps - and I hadn't even noticed (bad mummy!!) ... soooo.. we went and got DS a booster seat - a safe and sound hi pod one or something like that - it comes with the anti submarine clip so he fits quite nicely into that. Now we have DD1 in his old maxi rider, but she is already in the highest shoulder strap slots, so I doubt it will last till she's 4 - hopefully she will stop growing quite so quickly and wait till DD2 is 14kg (she's only 10kg at the moment) so she can go into the maxi rider - cos I think its from 14kg? Or is it from 8kg, can't remember.
So at the moment, everyone fits into their seats - except I want to get a new one for the baby and DH won't let me
My DS2 (21 months) is in a Maxi Rider and he's definately not 14kg. I think it's more like the 8kg mark but i'm not certain. The man who fit the seats for me was happy to have DS2 in the Maxi Rider but not so happy about DS1 being in the Hi Liner just yet (he's almost 4 but not quite 18kg).
Yeah I know - I do feel bad that DS1 isn't 18kg yet, but he's only a kg off it, so hopefully he puts that on pretty quickly. Fingers crossed anyway. He's 4 on Monday so he's right age wise, and he fits in it lengthwise, the seatbelt sits really well across him, so its just that he's got a skinny butt thats the problem.
Just stuff him full of food whenever you get into the car! Hehe...
We're facing a similar dilemma. I will be getting DD a booster I think, though like A she's slightly under the weight limit, she's tall enough and age wise she's jsut about old enough too, we will still use a H harness though. And like you, DS is almost big enough for one too...I think we will wait to get him one though (besides the fact that they're soo bloody exxy!!), since he's barely 2 1/2!! Baby will be getting DD old baby seat which is reversable.
