I have the little lamb one. I tried DD in it when she was 3 wks old and we were in the city and she loved it, instantly relaxed. We didn't buy it because we thought we didn't need to spend the money just yet and we didn't have room. I agonised over buying one for sometime and eventually about 10wks old I ordered it and wish I had of got it earlier!! DD has reflux and had colic also. It was amazing. Having said that she is 6 months next week and we are still using it everyday. I'm guessing she is about 6.5kg and 65cm at moment and we'll be using it for a while yet.
My only recommendation is to wait until bubs arrives and try him in it because a friends baby hated the swinging motion. Check out a toy library around you as some of them have them too.
I got ours new as we plan on having a couple of kids and there was nothing second hand around here and ebay most of them don't post. I got it on sale but I'd pay full price and more if I had to now I know how well it has worked for DD. It's also a hit when I have mums group here.
Good luck and sorry for my ramble. But I really love the fact that this swing gave me the ability to do basic chores without a screaming baby attached to me
I'm not sure about the papasan swing, but I recently bought a bright starts one that was on special at target.
With DD we had a baby love high chair that was a swing too. It was on loan, so we don't have it this time. It also wasn't suitable for little bubs as it was too upright.
I found it great for "witching hour" Often DD would be tired and grouchy, but it was too close to bedtime for a sleep. She would happily have a short nap while swinging without it throwing out her normal sleep times.
My Mum gave me the fisher price swing for ds. He absolutely loved it. I have since passed it on to my sister who has been using it for the past 7 months for her son, who also loves it! We have moved to NZ now, and I am pregnant again, and I really wish I had brought it with me! I would definitely recommend it
