How do you attatch the timber letters to the bedroom wall?
Today I bought the letters for DS's name to go on his bedroom wall. I will paint them & put them on his wall.... but how do you attatch them to the wall?
They're just plain timber letters, there's no hanger spot on the back etc
Someone out there must be able to tell me how to do this, it's so frustrating having it here but not knowing how to do it!
I would go down to bunnings and buy some tiny picture hangers to put on the back of the letters - then put a nail in the wall (or some of those 3M hooks).
I don't have mine yet for the kids, but friends have just used blue tack (sp?) or double sided tape (which would probably damage paint but would be Ok if they're going to be there for ages and if you aren't renting).
I used a glue gun for ours. The only thing with this is I'm not sure how easy they are to remove. So if you're renting, than I probably wouldn't advise it.
I would use the 3M hooks like some of the other suggested. Or really good quality double sided tape would do the job - this would be the easiest option but probably will take off the paint when you go to remove it.
I used the 3M removeable tape stuff that comes with their hooks. You can buy the double sided tape as refills to go with the hooks & I used that. I had thought of blu-tac to start with but figure in the midde of summer they're likely to fall down when the blu-tac melts.
I second the suggestion of using the sticky tabs from the 3M hooks. They remove really easily but stick really well. I wouldn't bother with the actual hooks themselves, though, just the tabs.
3M do another product which is designed for picture frames (I think - but that's what we use it for!). It is velcro and you stick one side to the wall (it has the removable stuff on it so you can remove it from the wall without marking it) and the other sticks on the object. It is fantastic! You just have to make sure it aligned properly We've used it on some heavyish frames and not had them fall off at all. Actually, we did lose one frame but I think that had more to do with DH's poor hanging on that one! And it was a HUGE frame! Anyway... we got it at Bunnings and it is perfect for us! You can cut it and shape it to your letters as well and they sit flush on the wall.
