    Hushamok hammocks - feedback please!

Our DD has been diagnosed with silent reflux and the poor little thing really struggles with day sleeps unless she is in the sling. A few people have recommended getting a hammock for her but I hadn't bothered as she was only diagnosed 2 weeks ago and I thought babies outgrew hammocks around 3 months so didn't see the point. I've since found out that's not the case and they can stay in them up until 6 months! We are now seriously considering getting a Hushamok Hammock. Can anyone give me some feedback on these hammocks?

    TIA

I have just bought one and set it up but cant give true feedback yet as bubs isnt here...lol. What I can say is that I researched these over the past five years and it was either going to be a hushamok or an amby...both very similar bu the hushamok has a bit more style going for it. It seems very well made...sturdy, excellent fixtures on the stand hardware and the hammock seems well constructed. hope that helps.....we got the lime green one.....the colour is so bright...its awesome! oh also love the fact it works on a leaf spring motion unlike the amby which has a tradititional coil spring attachment.

DD used an amby in her nursery at daycare up until she was a little over 12 months old! so they can do the long haul if your bubs likes them.

I really liked that they were sturdy and also DD did great sleeps in them as when a sleep cycle ended and she was in a light sleep the gentle rocking that happened as a result of her movement usually sent her back to sleep. one well rested bubba!

have you thought about maybe hiring one at first (there are quite a few places that hire them if you search on google)? i just say this because they are exxy and not all bubbas are too keen on them...just a thought though..

Thanks for the feedback girls. I do love the whole idea of them and definitely think it would help DD. Im not 100% sure she has silent reflux as she sleeps so well at night. She actually just woke from her first night in her cot after 10.5 hours and only one 30 min feed. Hmmmm

We still have major isuues with getting her to sleep during the day, hence the silent reflux diagnosis. We did a day stay at Perth's parentning centre on Monday and they only managed to settle her for one sleep. Ive been trying all week in her bassinet (matress raised) and in her cot but haven't had much luck. It's taken an hour to settle her for a half an hour sleep. The only sure way to get her to have a decent sleep is in the sling. I dont mind her sleeping in the sling but it's not practical all the time - I need some 'baby free' time

We are going to the pediatrician today so hopefully he can give us some suggestions. They do say that silent reflux babies often sleep well at night so maybe it is that. If she is just unsettled then the hammock will be great during the day anyway. Decisions, decisions!

Cassius - we did look at hiring a hammock but plan on having more babies so it would get used next time instead of the bassinet, which we borrowed.

There is a near new hushamok on e-bay currently, and they are agreeable to pick up by courier.

I just bought an Amby through e-bay and am happy with it.

Wonder how much floor space the hushamok takes compared to the Amby?

Ooh, will check eBay now! Thanks!

The Hushamok measurements are on their site. It's not that big surprisingly. For memory it's 130cm tall and about a meter in length and width

    So happy with the Hushamok!!

Well we bought one and we LOVE IT!! Our DD slept reasonably well in it the first day and then yesterday, her second day in it, she slept for 3 hours straight! I've just put her down for her morning sleep and she nodded off within 10 minutes with hardly a peep out of her. A few tiny little 'I'm tired' squawks, a few yawns and she was off to the land of nod!

It's a godsend! Worth every penny!!
