I had a quick look on the 'net and found a few places that have bassinette mattress protectors. If you Google "Bassinette Mattress Protectors" you should get some results. One brand I found is Playgro and it is waterproof, hypo-allergenic, etc., and at $5.50 each you could buy a couple to be sure the mattress is always protected. Not sure how it is secured (as I said previously, our protector has two elastic straps that go under the mattress) but the size seems appropriate - 50x40cm. You only need it to go under most of the baby, not all of it - they manage to get their messes in a lot of places but we find it is mostly contained in a relatively small area - "bonnet to booties" explosions are pretty rare!

The Joolz Day pram was super easy to assemble and, having already been for a walk in our rough ol' country town, I am suitably impressed by it! Boo was very comfy on both the flat and rugged, uneven surfaces and he slept most of the way. When he was awake he was very calm and happy in there. It feels very sturdy and balanced, turns on a dime and is easy to steer, even with one hand - so far I just love it! - and everyone who's seen the pram has commented on how beautiful it is!
My only con so far would be that you cannot fit the UV shade (additional accessory) and the mozzie net at the same time. Out here, the sun and mozzies (and flies) are not mutually exclusive, so a way to have both at the same time would have been a great idea. However, the problem can be solved if you purchase the parasol. It can be fitted with the mozzie net attached and provides more than adequate shade.
The white colour is not a true white - more of a winter white or pale cream. It is just beautiful and I think it will be very serviceable regardless of the pale colour - allof the fabric is washable. My thinking was that in the heat of summer I couldn't imagine anything worse than being forced to sit in a black car in 40C heat and that's what I'd be asking Boo to do most summer days herewith a dark-coloured pram, so a pale colour was the way to go.
At this point, I think this pram was absolutely worth the money... and then some. I am taking it to the city tomorrow (our nearest regional centre anyway), and will be able to report on it's performance there too.
I have now had the pram for about a month and it might be time for another update on my thoughts on it.
Well... I am still just loving it! Every time I use it I am struck by how much I enjoy using it and how happy Boo is in it!
The things I have found to be a bit of a pain are:
The cover for the basinette section does not fully zip off, which in summer seems like a silly design flaw. I will say, however, that even in the scorching heat up here a couple of weeks ago, Boo did not get overly hot or sweaty in there and it does protect him from the sun.
I had to go back and read the instruction booklet again to figure out the final bit of folding the pram chassis down. It is not really tricky but it was a bit stiff at first and eluded me the first time I tried. As I have collapsed it more times, the mechanism has become a bit more free and easy to use.
The things that I have found to be brilliant are:
Handles easily and turns on a dime - it truly is beautiful to push.
Boo is comfy in there even when we go on on our rugged country roads and footpaths.
It does fold down to be pretty compact! I have a giant 4WD to fit all my kids in but must have all rows up when we travel, so luggage space is at a premium for us. When all three rows of seats are being used it fits behind just one of the rear seats. We recently did a big trip to southern NSW and I can't complain about the pram fitting in at all - even I was surprised at how well it fitted!
It is easy to clean - even the white is easy to clean... and it makes you notice just how much grot gets onto a pram! I spot clean any marks now and then (I have even used a baby wipe with good results) but after a month I have given the whole thing a quick once over with some very baby-safe all-purpose cleaner (Enviroclean Vigor), an old toothbrush and the shower head to rinse it. It has come up beautifully and I am thrilled by the ease with which any marks came off. Many people have commented on my possible insanity for having a white pram but I am pleased with how easy it is to care for.
Love the mattress in the basinette. It seems to prevent Boo from getting too hot and sweaty even on hot days. I have just used a muslin wrap as a sheet on it and it is great. When we went on our trip, I totally forgot to take the hammock, so we used the basinette as his bed. He slept beautifully in it - he even started an amazing routine of sleeping every night for a stretch of 5 hours or more, which his parents definitely appreciate. Now back home, we are back to using the hammock but the pram certainly did the job of his bed while we travelled.
The shopping bag, which some folks have wondered about, is actually really good. It won't fit your weekly shopping in there, but it does fit a bag or two of goodies.
If you are big on looks, be sure that everyone will comment on this pram. Not one Mum who has seen me when I'm out and about has not commented on what a beautiful pram it is.
I am sure I will think of other things, but these are a few that come to mind.
All up, this pram suits me to a T and I absolutely love it! For me, and Boo, it was worth every cent.

I bought the silver for the same reasons you bought the white one and nearly 2 years on still love it
