Looking for a 4 wheeled pram...i think...are Bertini any good? Other options?
Hello,
Am just starting the great journey that is baby stuff planning...and am already stuck on the type of pram to look at. Being in the country I'm trying to do lots of internet research and then plan go to Melb to try some out, but need to narrow down the list so I know which stockests to go to. My biggest prob to date is the pram.
DH and I live on a hilly farm, and our house is on a hilly block (so need big wheels to get over stuff like rocks/sticks etc). Town is undulated - esp the carpark to the supermarket, so I figure that stability is a big issue. And while I would love to think that I'll go jogging along the rail trail post birth - realistically I dont think I will do more than walk! So I'm figuring that a 4 wheel pram may be the best option for us (but I'm not sure) - but they dont seem to be the trend nor is there alot of info about them that I can find.
So far the Bertini X5 looks good (be expensive). Has anyone got any advice on 4 wheel prams and can recommend a brand/model that they are happy with? I really need any and all advice I can get at this stage!
Thanks
FG
I have also heard Mothers Choice is good too! I'll definately be going for a 4 wheeler too! I don't like the 3 wheelers at all - lots of accidents happen with them it seems!
I love our 3 wheeler. I don't think stability is a problem at all. You steer them totally different to a 4 wheeler and you get used to the balancing points very quickly. I go up and down gutters and stairs and go cross country in parks all the time and have never had it tip over.
I also have a Bertini pram which is the first one I bought. It is a great pram but it is heavy and bulky and takes up the whole boot of the car which is why I ended up buying the more compact folding and lighter 3 wheeler.
It's called a bidwell and is totally different to the one they sell now.
I live in the country and friends who live on farms have tended towards the emmajalunga and/or the mountain buggy. I guess what I would do would buy a second hand Emmajalunga and a smaller more compact one for the car/town.
Not sure if a 4 wheel stroller would suit your needs for town? I love my Maclaran Vogue. Still 8.5kg but has larger wheels and easy to fold and doesn't take up the whole boot. It also depends what you want the pram for in town, is it browsing shopping or supermarket. As you may use a trolley too.
You could buy a carrier as well. I also adore my Pikkolo and I made myself a HAB for the early days. 5m jersey material cut about 50cm wide. I didn't cut it or anything or bother with the pocket as I mainly wore this around the house. I was give a BB which was awful. It was the old style and so uncomfortable once bub was 5kg.
Good luck deciding it is hard becuase there is so much out there. You can get some bargains second hand, a friend picked up her emma for under $100 to be used at the family farm.
