DD was 5pound 15 & was in 00000 bonds wondersuits for a couple of weeks, then into normal 00000 for another couple of weeks then 0000's for around 2 months.
You will find that different brands are different sizes as well. DD didnt wear quite a few things because they were labelled as one size & when she was at that size we got them out & they were too small. Others you will find are huge, DD still fits her 000 Sooki Baby jacket with room to spare (which Im happy about because its about the only item I paid full price for)

DD was 3.5kg and was in 0000 for the first 2 - 3wks, she was a short round little thing.

DS was 3.6kg and was in 000 when born, he was long and skinny. This time round I am keeping mostly 000 with just one 0000 outfit JIC. If they are too big it doesn't matter, but if they are too small it does.

My beautiful bubba boy was 11pd 2oz........5.045kg and 59.5cm

I put him in one 0000 Patch suit in hossy, just so he wore it once, the pants were meant to be long, and they were like shorts! He went straight into 000, and was in 00 within about a month. He now wears 0's at 4 months old!! (and size 1 singlets!!)

My advice would be to not buy much to be honest- you really can end up wasting your money on the wrong size clothes that just don't get worn.
Maybe pop some money in a moneybox each week and just buy a couple of basic bonds suits maybe one in 0000 and the rest in 000 before bub comes. That way if bub is small and needs 0000, atleast it can grow into the 000, and you can use the money you saved to go and buy the clothes needed.
You really do get given lots, and this time I didn't really buy any clothes before I had DS, as I had learnt from last time, and I didn't have to buy anything until he was about a month old!
If it was me I would be buying bits and pieces like wipes and sposies, or cloth nappies depending which way you go, because these things you know you will be using a lot of.
Just my two cents...Good luck and have a healthy and happy pregnancy!

DD was 10lb 4 oz and fit one 0000 once and it was tight! She was also a long baby and born in the middle of summer. We were straight in 000's pretty much and up to 00's soon enough.
All of the suggestions on here are great! Good luck with it all.

I hate the oversized baggy look on my babies so I was happy to have 4-5 0000 suits just to cover those first few weeks.
I feel the same way about the baggy look. You're taking so many photos in those first few weeks that you want bub to be looking good. My DD was 2.98kg and 000 swam on her and we had to go out and buy 0000 suits. DS was 2.66kg and fitted 00000 suits for about 3 weeks, and is still wearing some 0000 at 3 months old, but saying that, mainly wears 000 and in bonds 00.

My little girl was 2.9kg when born and she was in 00000 for about 2 months. Then she was in 0000 for a while and then 000.

Wow Raven, 7.5kg, what big babies! (I'm guessing you mean 7lb 5oz? )

my little fella was 8lb 9oz and the 0000 were just a bit tight, 000 were also a bit loose but i think (imop) that a bit loose is better than a bit tight

Was just coming back to make the point Rufalina made - that it'll also depend on the length of bub - my first was long, so that's another reason the 0000's were a no-go, if his weight had been more chub than length, perhaps the 0000's would have been okay.

Moral of the story seems to be buy a few and then wait and see? You can always buy more when you know what you need.

my bub was low birth weight so we were in 5 0's for a month, then 4 0's till 3 months, 3 0's till 5-6 months, and has now outgrown most of her 00's so moving into her 0's (due to her length not her weight). Regards the length/weight thing - It's best to buy jumpsuits which don't enclose the feet as you get more wear out of them (and add socks of course) as if it's a nice snug fit if you have a big baby it won't matter as the feet won't be enclosed therefore keeping the legs from stretching out properly KWIM.

On another note - in 8 months I have bought my baby maybe 5 items of clothing - between my baby shower, church friends and friends hand-me-downs I have had more clothes then DD can wear before she outgrows them - so don't buy too much yet.

Believe me they are very small when they come out! I only had 000 but had to send my mum out for 0000 as the others were way too big! Just dont buy too many.

My bub was 52.5cm and 8pound2

DD1 was 8'10 and 52cm long. i was given a bunch of unused baby clothes from a friend who had a big bubba and never fitted into the 0000 or many of the 000. both DD1 & DD2 fitted into 0000 for bout 2 weeks and then into 000's (as the 0000 pants are way to small in the leg length)
Made the mistake with DD2 buying those fancy bonds bodysuits the ones without the button thingies and its meant to be sooo easy. I found them utterly difficult with a newborn and not handy since they have no feet in them!

My DD was 2.5kg (5lb 11oz) but she was quite long. Weight wise she was in 00000 / 000000 but length wise she was in 0000. Needless to say that everything looked baggy on her for about a month until she grew into the 0000.

I think the best thing to do is have a few 0000 and more 000. If you need more 0000 or smaller, you can get them when you need them, but you're not likely to need them for very long.
