Water is you need for bathing. Babies don't strip engines or work in the garden so they don't need harsh chemicals to clean them. Lots of washers will be handy.
The hospital I birthed at recommended just using tissues and sorbelene to clean a dirty bottom. So we use the natural Gaia wipes and then the sorbelene and tissue after.
For a bath, I find Adelaide water pretty harsh so I massage her after with sorbelene too to help with the dry skin.
I was given a jurlique baby pack when i finished up work and that has a nice bath oil to calm them, a nice moisturizer and shampoo as well. It's not necessary but it smells and feels so nice on her and they are natural.
I agree with the flannels too!! Nice soft ones are the best after to help dry them between the fat rolls
I found I needed more than just water - DS is a chucker and the smell of stale sour milk was a bit ewww with just water. I went for the Gaia range as well, but often also use an essential oil based wash made locally without any soaps etc. And only ever the tiniest amount in the bath water, just enough to clean off the spew smell
We used water & washcloths pretty much for the first 9 months. After that I started using basic soap. Once DD hair got longer we started using kids shampoo and conditioner. You really need to be careful what you use b/c if your child has excema for example, most of the products won't be able to be used. My gf son had excema and she could only use QV
