I was lucky enough to get given a hand-me-down portacot when I was pregnant, but never looked at it til the other day....I folded it out and the matress bit in it is pretty much just like a board with a thick blanket over it (not literaly, but thats about how thick it is)

We are going away for a long weekend in afew weeks, and now Im wondering if thats normal for a portacot?? I read somewhere that putting thick matresses in them can be dangerous...is there other alternatives?? Would I better off putting DS in it for a night or two here before we leave to see if its freaks him out??? Cos the matress is so light weight, has anyone else found problems with the bedding staying tucked in and off the baby's face????
