For those of you who have bought a pram from the USA....

....do you have any regrets? The fact that they 'don't meet Australian safety standards' and that the 'warranty is only valid in the States'? Are they really big concerns?

I'm that close to buying the Baby Jogger City Select US model either direct from the States or from on of the eBay sellers who have imported them from the States. I can save $400 on the entire package compared to if I buy it at one of my local baby stores (I'm in Perth) so it's not a small saving, it's significant. Not only that, I can get the Amethyst one which won't be available in Australia until Dec. Yes, colour is very important

Now I'm all set to go and have found a good deal from someone in Sydney who is working on behalf of an exporter from the States. I was that close to buying it last night but I am a bit worried about the warranty and safety standards. Should I be worried??

I got my Baby Jogger City Elite 2010 model from Mystrollers in the US. Baby Jogger has the same standards between USA and Australia as far as I could tell the only bad this was the warranty as I couldn't get it but I have not needed to use it and its expired now.

It certainly was MUCH cheaper to buy and have it shipped despite the fact the shipping was still $250 I got the pram, toddler seat, toddler canopy, tire pump and tyre bag AND shipping for under $1000. Here the pram and toddler seat alone costs the same.

I plan on checking out how the baby bits work with a todder as well (the bag thingy) but worst case scenario I will just use one of those neck roll things and a sheep skin. I am thinking of also getting for later on one of those stand on boards as Baby Jogger have recently released them as well not sure if they are available here but it will still be cheaper to go through the above mentioned company.

the ONLYT bad thing was the slow shipping but it was not all that bad AND if you happen to go through above mentioned company ONLY PAY WITH WIRE TRANSFER ........ I had sooooo many issues with themaccepting other forms of payment.

That's what I thought too! I read up about the 'safety standards' last night and they appear to be the only difference plus Aussie prams now have the warning tags such as 'Do not hang bags from the handle bar', etc. If that's the only differences then that's definitely not an issue. Thanks!

Nae - I thought you'd bought yours from the States, have been meaning to ask you so cheers for popping in. I'll check out that place now. I've got the Elite and LOVE it but really want to be able to connect my new capsule and DD at the same time which I can't do on the Elite. Bummer! With regards to having a new born in the Elite, definitely get one of the new cocoons they've released as it actuallly clips in properly into the main seat when its flat. A few friends had the equivalent thing with their P&T prams and they were awesome. Also, we moved DD from her bassinet into the main seat when she was just 9 weeks old. I didn't bother with the shoulder straps as she was reclined quite a bit anyway (and they were too bulky) and we used a full baby insert which had the neck support as well. I think I also used the sheepskin liner underneath all that for extra comfort. It worked a treat.

I am SURE mine has a warning about hanging bags from the handle bar Its in my boot and I'd check but its too cold to go outside in my jarmies

Do you know if you can use those new capsules so the head goes closest to you so you can use the toddler seat as well??

LOL! Go out in the cold for me right now!!

I put the capsule on my Elite the other day and it only goes the one way which is facing you and you can't fit the toddler seat on at the same time as the adapters for the capsule sit below the holes for the toddler seat. There is no room at all for a toddler....unless they were happy to lay flat in the main seat
