what do you think of the Bugaboo prams?

These are the reasons why I love my Bug!!!

• The pram is very light, 8-9kg, with each component is less than 5kg, there isn't one that matches it weight for weight with all the plus's below.
• Easy to steer, even one handed
• Once you know how to fold and un-fold, it one easy movement, quick and simple
• The bassinett or seat clicks in - simple
• The large tyres are inflatable - one of the big negatives about the Strider - crappy on any surface other than nice flat smooth pavements, I take my Bug "off road!!!"
• Hunt around for a good deal. The RRP was $1599, I got 10% off plus an $150 instore voucher I could used for anything - I bought Bug accessories
• We use it as our bassinett for bubs, until she is big enought to go into her cot (which hasn't arrived yet anyway), she was early, and atm is 2.8kg, and doesn't even take up a third of the bassinet
• Who gives a crap about status symbols, I bought it for so many other reasons then who else had one.
• It fits in the back on my hatch - with the bassinett, I just unclip it!
• If you want to make it more compact, you can take the big wheels off very easily - this pram doesn't require a degree inrocket science to use it!!
• You can take it through the snow and the sand, great for us we love both
• The adjustable handle length, DH is quite a bit taller than me!
• Some complain about the storage bag being difficult to get to with the bassinet on it - yes it is, but damn I can still get a lot in there and it isn't that bad!!
• The wheel base isn't as wide as a lot of the three wheelers, I can easily navigate the baby around
• Turning circle of a pinhead - amazing
• We can even use our Angel Care sound and movement monitor in it

We wanted to by one pram the would last us a long time, the best investment I have ever made.
I have a friend who wanted one and didn't end up getting one, bought an Emmmaljunga, it was too heavy and difficult to steer, then bought a BeamerQ also a Quinny and is now looking at another pram, should have just bought the Bug to start with would have saved a fortune

I have a couple of friends with them and they really liked them to begin with.

- One had to sell hers when she got pregnant again when #1 was 3 months old as they don't come with a toddler seat and it was useless with 2 young children.
- One leaves hers in the car and carries her DD everywhere as she can't be bothered with all the fiddling around pulling it out and putting it together.
- One won't take her DD in it to childcare as she's too scared to leave the pram there in case it gets stolen
- One loves it!

So really it depends on what you want it for and how you are planning your family.

lol - yeah i used to take my peg off road too - i called it 4 wheel riding.

Driveways with no concrete and deep gulleys where the cars have made bumps are lots of fun to run through! DD used to crack up

Sounds like the bug is for us too then. I never even knew the celebs used them so that makes no difference to me. I want a light weight pram as I am only little myself. I want one that is not too wide that I can't get in and out of shops easy. I am looking for something that can be very compact when folded up because of a small boot. I also want to have the baby face me and visa versa. We always take our Cattle Dog through the bush for walks and want a pram thats great off road. I want to be able to put the car seat inside the pram as well. I like that the brakes are in the handle car and that it has the 5 point safety harness. Anyways if its a bit more than most than I am not worried cause I have saved money for this and dont want to regret not spending the extra money later.

But I am not silly either I will check it out against the Strider. The other pram we liked was the new Prego Skate, but its a bulky pram and way to big when folded down. Ah the joys!

Hi - the only thing I would suggest if you are planning on doing some bush walking is to look at some 3 wheelers as well, as you can lock the front wheel for 'off-road'. We have gone for a Phil and Ted for this reason (among others) as DH's family live in the country and we know we will need to regularly use the pram over rough terrain.

I LOVE mine and did not buy it for celeb status but bc i like it for all the reasons above...
on a cost per use basis it did not work out bd compared to many other things for babies...

i just hope they make a 2 seater b4 we have no 2...!!! i am such a fan!

I actually brought the infinity rockstar baby designed by Bon Jovi off Dealers Direct and got 50% off it paid 320 including delivery and it gets delivered to the door the same as a bugaboo its awesome soo muh better than I thought too for the price it comes with a matching nappy bag and sleeping bag which they don't tell you on the site I recieved mine 3 days after paying for it and its tracked by australia post They come in Red Black or Beige I got the Beige cause the black was out of stock but its still HOT !!!

We went and checked out a bug yesterday and my first impressions were not that good. What ended up getting my attention more was the 4 wheeler by SteelCraft. I liked the way it folded up and it had plenty of storage room too. Has anyone got one of these and what do you think? I am still considering the Prego Skate though.

Just thought I would comment on a few of the posts...

Re there are cheaper versions.... AHHHHH NOOOO I work in a baby store and the only pram that compares is the Quinny Buzz which rtetails around $1000 so not much cheaper. If you push the copies you can tell what your paying for. Granted that its a lot to spend, but no other pram hold value like it. People pay close to RRP for second and thrid hand prams... Sorry if this offends, but IMO they are one of the best prams. Also you cant compare them to prams such as phil and teds and mountain buggy, completey different....

Hope this helps.. I agree go into stores and check them out.... you'll know why they are the price they are when you see all the functions and push it in store. I have had customers that came in saying that they would never buy one as they're such a wa^k with the celeb status and ppl buy them just coz Angelina had one.... well guess which customers buy a bugaboo after me showing them through it????

Oh just on the SC strider... while its good for you money, it it horrible to push. It is soooo bumpy, I have had two friends buy them and sell them just as quick... another pram that is ok and has the features of a bug is the Joolz, but again your paying for it...

I've ordered a Bugaboo because after extensively test-driving heaps of different brands and models in stores it was the only one I felt really comfortable with. The suspension is amazing! Image and brand-name didn't have any influence. If anything, I know I'll be embarrassed that people know how much i spent!
