what do you think of the Bugaboo prams?

I have been doing some internet research and the Bugaboo sounds great although I am yet to see one in the flesh. I know there are not cheap, but I would rather spend the money on a quality pram that is more likely to last the years then have to buy another one 12 months later.

Would love to know what other people think and their experiences with this product?

Hi Puppies, I had a look at them at the beginning & they were a total waste of money. NO offence to anyone that hasone but you can find the same quality pram cheaper... I think you're paying for the name. It's like buying a Mercedes but you buy a Mazda instead beacuse it still takes you from A to B.......well maybe not coz I know I would love a Mercedes anyday

    From my personal experience....

I don't have a bugaboo but did look at them when I had DD. I honestly think you're paying for the "name" aswell. There are quite a few copycats out there now which are much cheaper, to be honest I cant tell the difference when seeing them out & about until I see the bugaboo symbol on the pram, thats the only way I can tell them apart!

I know people either love them or hate them. I just couldn't justify spending that much money on a pram that doesn't seem to have anything special about it besides the "celebrity" status from all the celebrities buying them.

Can I suggest going to a few different baby stores & pushing a few around the store, fold them & unfold them, lift them to see how heavy they are, check features etc. Maybe make a list then you can compare them & make a decision on that. (compare prices aswell)

Sometimes stopping people in the street helps but I've also found that some people are quite touchy about it & will tell you their pram is "the best" even if maybe deep down they think they made a mistake. I think they're trying to convince themselves aswell as everyone else that it wasn't a huge mistake/waste of money.

I've been through a few different prams with DD & found 2 that I'm happy with....

I have an Emmmaljunga for newborn which is using the bassinette attatchment. I also have the seat attatchment for when older but I found it to be too much fuss getting in & out of the boot all the time (ok if you dont drive though & leave it set up)

For toddler I have a Phil & Teds. It's light as, so easy to steer, can have a second seat attatched very easily (which weighs next to nothing aswell) & the second child can sleep in the extra seat as not only is it a high back but it also reclines! So you can have 2 comfortable sleeping children.... fantastic! This pram will also work for a newborn.

I think the best thing you can do is to go & test them as I suggested above

    Good luck making your choice!

    Puppies,

Its totally a personal chioce! We love our bugaboo and we didnt buy it cause of the celebrity status( no offence taken)! At the time it was the most convential pram for us! Came standard with a bassinette and seat, very light weight and can be customised for your personal taste!

I must say it has become a bit of an addiction like mcns buyin the different toppings etc!
Things i love about it are -light weight
    - easliy adjustable
    - handle bar that lengthens, i have long legs and hit them on almost all pram bases
    - differnt colours in know this doesnt really matter but i love it!
    - bubs can face you or face out, very important in my books
    - very easy to steer, i use one hand sometimes!

Hope this helps a lil. There are a number of similar ones out there which do look the same so maybe test them out!

    Good luck x

Hi puppies we have a bugaboo and i must say it is the best thing i have ever bought. Absolutely love it. I bought mine second hand for $500 i have the bugaboo frog have heard there was a few issues with the camelon. I would totally recommend getting one, they are very light weight and easy to wheel, easy to fold etc. I bought mine from my sister as she moved overseas and didnt have room to take it and now she has a bill and ted and she regrets getting rid of the bugaboo. If you dont mind buying one second hand check out ebay they have a few on there and also the accessories.

I saw a bugaboo out in public today for the first time. It was being pushed around by a super trendy skinny chick with a scarf tied round her head. What I thought was that the seat doesn't look all that comfortable for the child. It's very stiff looking and kind of small. The basket-bag attachment under the seat was big and useful looking and the stroller fit through a regular supermarket checkout aisle ... but otherwise ... I don't know ... is it just prestige?

Honestly, I wouldn't have noticed the bugaboo at all but I check out every single stroller that passes me these days while I'm trying to decide what to buy. I don't think the bugaboo is all that special.

For me - it is the best investment I made It is lightweight so I can lift it easily on my own, easy to set up and put down (with some initial practice) and it fits into the back of a Barina even with the bassinette. It is also incredibly manoueverable which is an advantage in the city and able to be taken off road on walking tracks too.

I understand people may think it is prestige but considering the amount some spend on multiple prams trying to find the right one it was well worth the cost to find the pram we find most useful for our needs.

we have a bugaboo gecko and have had no regrets.

as the others who have one have mentioned, it is light, can turn on a pin and is narrow enough to fit where other prams dont. today for example i went with a friend for coffee and her mountain buggy couldn't get through the narrow door, while the bugaboo had room to spare! living in melbourne with it's poky stores narrowness is a big seller for me!

it folds up really easily and the bassinette and seat can sit on the frame in the boot.

also it is really durable we have travelled all over with it, through sand and snow and rough tracks in national parks, on planes, trains and trams without a hitch.

and the seat is not at all uncomfy for the bubs (DD would certainly let me know LOL!). she can sleep hours in the seat (and does!). i also really like that bubs can face you or can sit looking out...

    worth every penny IMO.

my only wish is that they made a double....

    OMG, me too!

I love my Bug. DS is 4 months old and still in the bassinette attachment, he sleeps beautifully in there and loves it.

The Peg Perego Primmo Viaggio car seat is at Babies Galore but it says "coming soon" on their website. I can't wait to buy one as it attaches to the Bugaboo!! :woot:
