What theme did you choose for your nursery?

I am a little overwhelmed at all the different themes and wanted to get an idea on what other people choose for their theme.

I didn't find out what I was having when preg with DD so I went for a Pooh Bear theme. She loves it. Figured that way it didn't matter boy or girl.

Pooh bear, Winnie the Pooh Bear!! *sing*
We didn't find out what we were having and the Pooh theme is fairly neutral so went with that. We'll use it for number 2 as well and DS can upgrade to something really boyish.

I'm going with Zanzibar, because I love green, and I think the jungle animals are just too cute! (i've been told it's too boyish - but I think it would do for both... but I also know now that I am having a boy).

We didnt do a theme. We painted the room mint green and have dark wood in there.
When MJ starts to be drawn to charaters or types of things we will decorate it then.

I am a pooh fan, but she mght not, so we figured we would wait

I went green and Pooh bear too, even knowing she was a girl ( I wasn't convinced!70%) Anyway, I now wish it was more girly! Hehe! I have taken most of the Pooh stuff down and hae painted fairy and butterfly pics, and when we move her room will be pretty girly! If you don't know the sex I would keep it fairly neutral to begin with and then go from there!
once Izzy goes into her big girl bed I am going to Adairs Kids and get some nice bedding and accessories for her room. For our little guy Im still deciding but the nursery before he comes will be pretty neutral for a while with a few Pooh stickers and a painting I did for Iz with animals on it!

I couldn't decide on a theme, it was to hard as there were so many nice themes out there. So I just mixed and matched all different themes and accessories. It looks really nice as I kept with pastel colours, more girl colours, so it all went well together and we haven't got bored with it.

It has made it easier for us to buy other quilts, cot sheet sets and accessories later on, as its not just one theme

No theme for DD, only her bedding was all pink & white with "princess" on it. (Poor DD missed out LOL)

Just started DS's nursery yesterday & doing Noahs Ark. We have off white walls & a blue feature wall. Then I have bought the "silver lining" range from kids line. I got the cot set, including cot valance, floor rug, hamper, wall hangings, musical cot mobile & I'll get the matching lamp a bit later down the track.

It looks really nice in my opinion LOL I'll post a pic to gallery of what the cot looks like set up, haven't put the wall hangings up yet & still waiting for carpet but still looks good so far...

With Noah I initially went a Jungle theme ( I think I have photos in my sig link to Noah) and now that it looks like this is boy number 2 I am doing up the room in a pirate theme. I have the walls in white and I have just bought black and red rubber tubs for the toys and I have made some pirate curtains. I have also hung white muslin "sails" in the corner of the room for extra storage for stuffed animals. My MIL went and bought the wooden pirate ship from aldi which will be a main centre-piece for the room and I will eventually paint some pirate pictures for the wall hangings. It is so much fun decorating I am really passionate about it can't you tell

I know i am having aboy but i am still keeping the theme pretty gender neutral. No offence to anyone else - just my personal taste is that i dont love or even really like any of the baby themes that are out there. Cant even bring myself to buy any Pooh stuff.

We are keeping the walls off white and are getting dark wood furniture. As for decorating we will be using bright colours - i will probably paint animals on canvases and hang them around the walls. As for bedding, i will probably go with white sheets and hopefully find a cover that i like or if not i will get a few made.

When baby gets older i will more than likely introduce a theme that he likes then.

With my first preg i didnt find out so we went with all while furniture and linin (so we could still add coulor later and what seems to be popular "pooh bear" stick abouts"

This time wefound out we were having a girl so we did a bright candy pink feature wall (still had the white furniture) and have done a beautiful butterfly and flower theme...

All i had to start off with was a Butterfly and flower Doona cover that i fell in love with and everything else came after that. we now have the butterflies and flowers (made out of netting) all around the plain white walls and the cot with white mosquito net with the pink linin in front of the feature wall... Looks great so happy with it...

Just have to do my DS new room now... he's into Thomas the tank engine...

The great thing is the Stick-a-bouts. they peel off when you want a new theme... No need to change the pain just the stickers.

Well it doesn't look like we were very original, but once we found out we were expecting a boy and a girl we went with Pooh and friends. We also decided on red curtains and a red rug with timber furniture so it was bright and cheery but suitable for both.

Dh was really pushing for a rocket ship theme....... and he lost! :P

I had no idea if Harrison was a girl or a boy, and he was also in our room, so we bought all his furniture in white, and had a white & silver stars theme for his section of the room. Everyone who saw it fell in love with it... it was beautiful.

He is still in our room, but his part of the room is now all Disney/Pixar Cars... he is obsessed with Lightning McQueen!
