What would you do? Pram dilema..

I have a Strider Plus, which up until recently has been great. It is 18ish months old so outside of warranty and it is starting to fall apart on me. Some of the material on the top seat is tearing along a couple of seams and the basket has a little damage from rubbing on one wheel.
The other issue is that the weight limit for the top seat is 17kgs and the bottom seat is 15kg. If we replace the top seat it would make more sense for us to get the capsule/basinette attachment for the new baby and put DS in the bottom. But he is almost 15kgs now. The new baby could go in the bottom seat as it reclines but not really ideal and not recomended by the manufacturer.
So what would you do? Would you bother chasing up parts and getting prices? Or save and buy a new pram that is more suitable?

It would be annoying to have to replace this pram as we sold our Bugaboo and bought this one and a second seat so when we had another baby we would have a pram that would carry both. Now its looking like Ill have to get a new one anyway. And this time I wont get anywhere near what I paid for it as it is damaged.

ETA- has anyone replaced either the main seat or the basket and able to tell how much it cost?

I have not replaced anything but I have my DD (4) who is 26kgs and my DS (2) who is 18kgs both still use our strider with no issues at all.

I'd contact the manufacturer and see what they can do to replace parts. I think 18 months of use really falls short of what a pram should last. Check out your rights as a consumer- (consumer affairs?) you may end up getting parts for free or cheap.

I have had excellent customer service from Britax who make steelcraft products.
    Definitely can't hurt to try.

18 months isn't long for that kind of damage! We've had our two years and it's as new.

I just wanted to say if you get the basinette, you won't be able to use the bottom seat as the basinette sticks out too far. Also, I think the reason for only going up to 15kgs in the bottom seat is to stop it tipping - a newborn won't have enough weight to hold the front down.

I wouldn't have any issues putting baby in the bottom though. I have a friend with twins who has this pram, and the babies swapped which seat they were in with no issues. As long as your DS faces forward so his feat are out of the way you should be fine.

Another option is if you're into baby wearing? DS goes in the pram and baby in the sling?

I'd be going to the manufacturer too - it does sound outside normal wear and tear.

it's worth trying with the manufacturer but I wouldn't get another pram. Another 6 months, your DS might not be so keen on riding in the pram. And if your baby wants to be worn (mine did especially when they were little), you have another 6 months where ds can go in the pram while you wear baby.

My dd is 3 and although I have a toddler seat on the pram, it is rare that both kids are in the pram. One is being worn and the other in the pram or DD is walking and ds is in pram or carrier or walking.

We have the strider plus and we actually put DS1 (17kg) in the bottom cause we find it travels better with the heavier child in the bottom.

I've just been watching a show on iview abc1 on consumer law as part of The Checkout show(ep 3). It's worth watching online. You have a right to a refund or exchange under many circumstances including a great one that says if you wouldn't have bought the product in the first place had you known it would need parts and repair then you have a right to a refund.
