Wraps - Muslin Wraps are a must, especially for a summer bub. Also the SwaddleMe from Baby Bunting, I love them, my DD is not in them anymore but was until 4 months of age, I found them to be fantastic as they have velcro and therefore bubs cannot pull them over their heads etc (also recommended by sids). If you do get SwaddleMe's get 2 so you can alternate if bubs vomits on one etc.
Jump Suits - I went overboard with Bonds Wondersuits thinking that I would have DD wear them most of the time, I think she wore them no more than 6 times. I prefer just plain cotton suits and mittens (cotton ones in 3 pack from Woolworthes, they stay on well) my DD was in 0000 for a month but I still overbought on 0000 big time, buy more in 000 they are in this size for much longer.
No need for a swing or playgym, DD has a playmat but was not interested in it until 3 months plus, before then they prefer to explore their environment, mummy and daddy.
I aggree with Satya - a bath thermometer and something musical for sleep - my DD has a blue fisher price seahorse , it plays a soft lullaby and has a light up tummy, goes for 5 minutes and I have had sooo many Mum's ask where I got it from. (Kmart $25- can also get on special for $20-)
Another thing I swear by - a pack of 12 terry towelling cloth nappies, great for vomit, spit, feeding bubs bottle, breastfeeding rag, expressing rag... priceless!
