We had the twins in our bedroom until they were 9mths old - then DD got moved from the bigger bedroom into our smaller spare room and the boys then into the bigger room.
We never decorated the bigger room until we knew who was going to end up in it - ie: If we had 2 more girls or g/b twins then the twins would have used the bigger room until we would have put all girls in together. Saying that we now only have floor rugs and wall stickers as "gender' decoration which is pretty easy to do when you decide the room situation, everything else was pretty gender nautral and more in keeping with the colour scheme of the house IYKWIM.
...ooooor, you could just box up DH's stuff in the study and decorate it as your nursery (because, darn it, that's the fun part). He will either:
(a) begrudingly accept that you were right and a bigger house is called for or,
(b) just have to get over it because a bigger house is called for!
You know what? this brings on a vent...... why do men get to have an entire room to put their stuff yet my stuff (sewing and craft things) are all packed away in boxes that I have to drag out whenever I want to do something which quite puts me off sewing because I have to drag it all out and don't have MY OWN ROOM!
