    Definate positive, then definate negative???

We slipped up. On cd 15...

Been stressing, big time. AF due any day....
Yesterday bought a 3 pack of HPT.
    Done one straight away.
    In the arvo.
Positive, in under the 10 min.

It was coloured, full width, easy visable from arms length. Still there today. Ad was 100% convinced. I have been feeling crap, and exhausted. Smelling a coffee the other day made me dry heave.

Done another this morning, just to confirm, and its negative. Definately.
I have one left, will do it tommorrow morning.

What on earth do I believe?????

We had finally, after many many talks, decided to have no more... I dont know what to think at the moment.... "stressed" doesn't even nearly cover it.....

OMG wow i don't know which one to believe, but i always thought that if you got a positive there was no mistake you were pregnant. I thought the only way there could be a mistake was it saying negative and you were actually pregnant!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was always told you cant get a false positive, if it comes up in under time limits.

Personally I would be off to GP for a blood test as that way you know for sure.

I would actually say you're not pregnant at this time. You might have been when you took the first test. My FS said that in "normal" couples (and I don't know your fertility history or how your kids were conceived, but I think pretty easily?) you can actually get fertilisation 10 out of 12 months of the year, but that for one reason or another the blastocyst doesn't implant.

What CD did you take the first test? My FS said they REALLY STRONGLY advise NOT to test early if you're undergoing IVF or other reproductive therapies as you can quite often get a positive test at home, then go for the blood test and it's negative. Which means that you (in my case ) get really excited about being pregnant and then have the world's most god awful period because it's actually a really early miscarriage.

So, I don't think your pregnant now.

I truly thought you can only get a false negative, not a false positive.

not last cycle when i got my angel baby but 2 cycles before that, i got a faint pos on a fr (dpo), the next day it was a bfn (10 dpo), then the day after again it was a faint pos (11dpo), then the next day it was a bfn again (12dpo), then a week later af came.

Good luck hun, i would wait a week then test again.

Well this morning was the same, feint positive, even at arms length.

But no darker than 2 days ago.. its nearly identical!!

The first one is still positive, hasn't faded like my other evap line ones...

The negative one, and then not getting darker is doing my head in....

Has anyone else had this??? What was your outcome???

I'm shiat scared to go to the doc.... he might say I am!!!!

I honestly don't know hun, hope you get the answer you want today

About the false positive thing - I set them off all the time. Twice now I've been rushed to hospital because I'd gotten BFP's, then gotten severe abdominal pain and bleeding a week later, which was always diagnosed as a possible ectopic until they blood tested me, and found that I was never actually pregnant. Long story short, an excess of hormones, not necessarily HCG, can set of HPT's but NOT a blood test. But that was for me, when I was going 8 months between periods.

Just to muddy the waters for you

chemical preg???? - which sounds just so clinical and revolting I am sorry

If you are only due now, I too would try and wait another couple of days and see what happens - and if still not clear - get a clearblue one that say Preg or not PReg! - nah, go and get bloods done. Says me who always tests on the first dau AF is due

Unfortunately (or fortunately ) two positives (feint or not) would say positive to me. Even with a negative in between

i had this with thsi pregnancy.
a faint one at 8 dpo then neg at 9 dpo then same line as 8dpo at 10 dpo and im now 13 weeks

go get a blood test, will stop you worrying at least and u will know for sure and then you can make a decision

I have had many early losses, at around 5-6 week marks.. so I think I am one of the ones that falls easily, and has these early losses.... so I am tempted to not read much into it just yet.... with 5 of these bubbas, I fell first go, so one slip up mightn't sound like a high chance, but with me, its almost a safe bet...

Another bubba would be very welcomed, but we had put all that aside, and to come to that decision was extremely hard for me... I have given away all clothes and nappies that dont fit... and it was extremely painful...

I feel like I'm being teased for finally making that decision... although there is no one to blame but me and Ad...

oh hun dont look at it as if your ebing punished.

we all have slip ups, its how we deal with that matters.

    hope it all works out
maybe wait 3 days and test again if its stronger good sign?
as it can take 72 hours for HCG levels to rise so your levels may not or rise significantly yet, and also it takes a day longer for it to be detectable in your urine than in your blood.
