ovulating twice again?

So, last cycle i ovulated twice this month i had a pos opk on day 10 and this month i actually felt the pop which has never happened. I tested again bout half hr ago and it loos like im going to ovulate again!

Lets hope the eggies are going to be friendly to the spermies!

I kinda feel like my eggs are being wasted lol

I've been reading a few articles on how the moon has something to do with ovulating twice in a month? Can anyone explain that a little more?

I have never heard of ovulating twice in one cycle. I am actually reading a book at the moment which suggests you can't, so I'd be interested in hearing other peoples thoughts and experiences.

Can I ask waht makes you believe you are ovulating twice a month? Are you doing digital OPK or line ones..
I found the line ones .. would come and go.. never 100% accurate.

I use the line ones, not a digi. I definately did last month.

I am on a herbal liquid so am wondering if this is possibly the cause? I know it did last month?

I O'd about 3 days ago, very very strong pos. tooday I thought i'd test again just to see what would happen and I got another stronggg pos.

Twins (higher percentage of fraternal twins) and triplets run in my family so it is possible for me to O twice a mth?

I asked DP if it could seriously happen again? Obviously he wasnt sure LOL I know the test are not 100% but Ive got CM and a bit of cramping on the right side this time - so it looks like Im Oing from both sides this month? (DEF the left side a couple days ago cos i felt the POP!)

Some strange things have happend to my body in the past few weeks - so anything is possible.

Curious to know if anyone else has had this?

Well I dont know what was going on, but I havent ovulated again!

I've been testing to make sure I didnt get another +ve.

What Does Fraternal Mean?
You'll find just about everything you need to know about fraternal twins here. We've also gathered together some facts and stats to help you understand this part of the twin world.

Fraternal twins make up approximately 75% of the twin population and can be boy/boy, girl/girl, or boy/girl sets. Fraternal, or "dizygotic", twins happen when Mom releases two eggs (either at the same or different times during her cycle), and different sperm fertilize each egg. Fraternal twins share up to 50% of their genes, and are no more alike or different than any two siblings would be. The similarity between fraternal twins can be close to identical - there are many fraternal twins that look identical - even more identical than some identical twins!

The difference between fraternal and identical twins is that fraternal twins are two separate eggs fertilized by two separate sperm to form two separate embryos and then make two separate babies. Identical twins are formed when one fertilized egg divides into two separate embryos to make two babies.

The two most common ways fraternal twins develop, or are conceived:
Superfecundation:
Superfecundation happens when Mom ovulates more than one egg during her cycle (a process called hyperovulation), and different sperm fertilizes two eggs. Mom may have inherited a gene that causes hyperovulation, which means she releases more than one egg during her regular cycles, thus the saying "twins are hereditary" or the common question "do twins run in your family". Many fertility drugs cause Mom to hyperovluate as well.

Superfetation:
Superfetation happens when Mom is already pregnant when she ovulates and releases another egg - sometimes as long as 24 days after the first egg is released. A different sperm then fertilizes the second egg. While the twins have different conception dates the babies will most likely be delivered at the same time, although they may be different sizes and at different developmental stages. In vitro fertilization - when fertilized eggs are implanted in Mom - is a form of superfetation. Superfetation also can happen when Mom undergoes fertilization treatments where fertilized eggs are implanted (in vitro), and then releases an egg during her cycle, which is also fertilized.

Since fraternal twins are formed by two separate eggs fertilized by two different sperm, fraternal twins can have different fathers.

Therefore it would be safe to say it is possible

This is what it says about fraternal twins ".... two seperate eggs are released and conceived within 24 hours of each other.....higher levels of FSH can cause more than one egg to release. In addition, older women may be more likely to release more than one egg, since FSH tends to increase as women get older....."

One of the q's in the book relating to ovulation is " 'Can a woman ovulate more than once per cycle?' Answer: No. Have you heard of a woman getting pg on Monday & then again on the following Friday, and then two weeks later on Thursday? Cetainly not, because once a woman ovulates, her body cannot release any more eggs that cycle. Ovulation may take place over approx 24 hrs, but just once per cycle. During those 24 hrs, though, one or more eggs may be released (as in the case of fraternal twins) But once ovulation has occured, it is virtually impossible for a woman to release another egg until the next cycle."

Now I am confused :P
