There's a bit of a story behind Sam's name. He's actually Samuel Angus and our surname begins with M. Both DH and I had the thought completely independently that if we were to have a boy we'd call him Samuel and make his initials the same as his nickname. Both names also have pretty significant meanings to us, not to mention the Samuel in the bible being the son of a barren woman... It was always meant to be our child's name!
I'm a bit overwhelmed that you think I'm courageous... bloody stubborn yes, but the rest of it - you just do what you have to. I have no other choice but to live my life this way, so I just get on with it. I have good days and bad days... Today's a bad day, but it's also tonight that I get to take the next dose of my once a fortnight wonder drug so I know I'm going to be in heaps less pain tomorrow. Just really glad Sam's at daycare. DH took him today so I'm still in PJs.
Ferrals, I'm at least in the same state as you. I live in Windsor, though - still a fair bit of a drive between us!
KitFaerie - follow your instinct with the solids. Do you think Sammy is ready for them? Those charts annoy me - Not every adult is the exact same height and build and therefore not every single baby will be. If he's happy, healthy and developing normally, he's just going to be a long and skinny kid and this is his normal. Mummy instincts are to be trusted every single time, I think.

BW-lol yeh just a wee drive.

Just a quickie, Axel has been asleep for about 20 minutes so I probably only have 10 seconds left lol.
dammit lol, there he goes! bbl!!
-
Oooook, I'm back. The little muffin is snuggling on my chest. Thank god for my galaxy tablet pc or I'd never get on BB lol.
Doing persies from memory here, but first a big hello to Kit, Ferrals, Reet, and Tegam. I hope I didn't miss anyone!
BW - I agree with the others, you're superhuman. I do understand the 'do what you gotta do' mentality though. But don't be so modest, you're so strong.
Reet - Every time I've tried to impose my will on Axel, the plan goes down in flames and I feel totally deflated. Those dang books are so contradictory!! I'm with you, just winging it. That's more my style anyway. Do you have someone nearby to help out while DH is away working?? 3 weeks is a long time to be 'on call' for Sienna's every need, you've gotta sneak in some you time. The most I've managed is almost 3 days of non-stop mummying.
AFM - that took me so long to write one handed I forget what else I read. So I'll just launch into my ramble. lol. DP is great and helps me a lot more than some other dads do for their wives, but lately it's getting a bit less. I think he feels I can do it easier so he just stands back a bit more. Only problem is Axel won't get used to Daddy's techniques if I have to keep 'rescuing'them. God I sound like a complainy pants. But sometimes I wish I could switch off for a few hours like he does. Last night while I settled Axel for bed (took me 2hours!!) he played his xbox! Granted it's been ages since he played, but I needed him to cook dinner. So at 10pm I had reheated chicken. *sigh* I let it slide though because he works so hard to provide for us and lately he's been a bit down in the dumps and stressed out.
Now onto my next topic. What's all this talk of housework being done? Floor scrubbing? Ironing? WTF? I can barely go to pee let alone get anything done. Whats the secret?
I have more to update about our trip to the physio but that'll have to wait for next time. I promise to do better persies next time lol

Ok I'll give a quick history on me. I'm 28, married to my best buddie and have 3 gorgeous children. My first 2 were born when I was 17 & 23. We started ttc again when I was 25 and I fell pregnant quickly only to m/c soon after. It took me another 9months to get my next BFP and again I m/c. This time they suspected the pregnancy was ectopic but resolved on its own. I fell pregnant again 4months later but again I was told I had m/c. Scans etc showed nothing. I knew I hadn't as I had m/c before and this time it was different. The nightmare went on for 4weeks before I eventully sat in ED and insisted the pregnancy was ectopic and finally it was confirmed. It was very dark days then as not only had I lost my 3rd pregnancy in 12months but my fertility problems were confirmed (endo and PID) We had to take 3months off and I had surgery in Nov 09 to try repair my remaining tube. In May 10 we started to start out first IVF cycle which was squeduled to start 2nd August 10. I found out 31st July I was pregnant. I couldn't believe it. Now coming up to 12months later we have a gorgeous girl who is now 8.5weeks old. She is the light of our lives and so worth the wait. The thing I am really struggling with now is the decision not to expand our family. I never expected to stop now. I am so grateful I have 3 healthy children and know how lucky I am but at the same time it sucks that our experiences have had such an influence on my plans. Thats what I am really struggling with now. Oh and I am in NSW. I'm in Central West-far west NSW so approx 500kms from Sydney in the sticks. I'm currently a SAHM until further notice but am a registered nurse/midwife.
BBL my beautiful girl is crying

Wow Mildez i think thats the first time i have heard your whole story! And snap im a RN too!
 Forshelby! Hehe re the house cleaning...thats ALL i do ALL day :) It just happens they get older or easier or something...give it time :)
Re floors: I HAVE A TOO BIG HOUSE TOO MANY TILES!
-
Mildez-I am on the central coast between gosford and newcastle.
Forshelby-Im with tegam i have a big house and to many kids not to clean i put Ella in her bouncer and drag her around the house with me even when i vaccum i take her from room to room and she just watches me when she gets tired and whingy i throw her muslin comfort blankey over the side of her face and she just snuggles it and sleeps even with the vaccum going.
I just perservered with her she had to get use to all the noise cause there is no way i could let my house work get on top of me with 6 people to cook clean wash clothes and iron uniforms for :o. and little miss know the drill and is happy to be dragged around in her bouncer if not in bed.
Mildez-you keep reminding me of the end of my baby making days :shakehead:
Murrycod- waiting waiting waiting.

The housework gets easier after a while, then it gets harder as they get more involved and want to "help". At two and a half Sam can actually be a big help in the housework stakes, but other times he makes things take soooo long that it actually becomes too hard and so it doesn't get done. If anyone visits I would strongly recommend against walking on our kitchen floor bare foot! But remember that I'm also dealing with a lot of other issues - some days if we're fed and clothed, that's all I can manage and everything else is a bonus. I really don't think I could do more children (ferals, I don't know how you do it!), at least not until Sam is much older. He does love to vacuum my floors, though!

BW-neither do i maybe it's because i am a clean freak and an organisation and routine fanatic i hate clutter/mess and really cant handle not being organised although some days i give myself a break and wont vaccum and mop :shhh: and the weekends the kids have to make their own beds.

Greats to see you back Murraycod.
Ferrals my princess puts herself to sleep during the day but its a different story overnight. She is still awake on the boob at the moment should be out soon. She almost always wakes at 2am, 4am, 6am and then out of bed at 9am but she is such a good girl. Just has a snack on the boob for 5minutes and goes to sleep quickly but not in her bassi. If I put her in before she is out she cries so she stays with me until she is asleep again. Getting her into bad habits but never mind. You sound like me with dragging Ella over the house behind you to clean. I have a house pram (with a single bed doona in it like a nest with a little teatree pillow and J sleeps so well in it. She sleeps in it during the day and when she is awake if she isn't having floor time or something I prop her up and she comes along with me. Funny thing knows when mum has time to pick her up. Its like she knows when the vacuume is on she has to wait but as soon as I am finished she lets out her help call to pay attention to her or pick her up. She was talking to me today. I'd talk back and when I shut up she would start again. Its the first time she has done that. So gorgeous.
Cleaning has never been my forte but now I am not working my house has never been cleaner. I'm doing the most odd things for me like reorganising wardrobes etc that previously hadn't been organised since my last bub was born over 4yrs ago.
Tegam I thought you had some medical background from your posts in the past. Murraycod your an RN also aren't you?
BW love your sons name. It was on the top of our list if we ever had a boy until my brother stole it and called his son Samuel.
-
Mildez-Ella wakes about 2-3am for one feed then is up about 6:30-7am.
And i talk to Ella when i am driving alone with her cause she hates the car so whinges if the boys arent in the back with her but if i talk to her she is quiet and if i stop she starts funny the people beside me at the intersections must think i am batty.
Oh and here is a few pics of how little hair Ella has so no bow's and ribbons for me just yet.

Thanks, Mildez. We do get some grief from DH's family over calling him Sam. They are annoyed because DH's sister has a son they call Sim and they say it's just too confusing to have a Sim and a Sam. I say get over it! There's 7 years in between them. I grew up with two of mum's sisters using the same name so I had two cousins called David on the same side of the family, and I think we'd have used Sam even if SIL had as well. Sam was their second choice of name for their son.
As for taking 9 weeks for bub to learn to sleep on their own... Sam took over two years! He self-settled beautifully for the first 8 weeks of his life - just wrap him up and pop him in the cot and that was it. Then we moved and the inlaws stayed with us for a few weeks and I ended up having to hold him and cuddle him to sleep at every nap time and sleep time ever since. Even as he got older DH would have to lay with him on our bed to get him to go to sleep - if he went into the cot even the slightest little bit awake he would scream. Then, when he turned two we turned the cot into a toddler bed and now at night we can tuck him in, turn off the light, close the door and walk away. If DH is around for day naps he's the same. But if it's just me and Sam, he still insists that I wrap him and cuddle him on my lap until he falls asleep. It's a rare day he'll let me put him in bed without it. But it's ok - I really enjoy just being able to sit and cuddle him and smell his hair! Very conscious of the fact it won't last forever and I'm soaking it up while I can!
