oh, how times have changed!! I had a 2km walk to and from school, from prep onwards ... teachers wouldn't have known if we were picked up or not!!

but a colleague's nephews are at a daycare, where if you're late at all (and I mean at all) they drop the kids off at the local police station, and notify the parents ... you have to pick them up from there ...

my colleague's sister has only ever been late twice ...

Wow! Thats a bit OTT! We used to charge $1 per min the parent was late past closing time. If we couldn't contact them after an hour THEN we had to call the police.
