Well, I've only read the first 4 or so pages but couldn't read any further without posting!

I appreciate everyone's moral high ground and holier than thou attitude but please try to remember that everyone's circumstances are different and as many people have mentioned, this may have been a treat and not an everyday occurrence.

Personally, I believe that most people wouldn't intentionally harm their children and perhaps this is a situational thing or a treat as has been suggested - point is that it's not fair for judge and I certainly don't think we can categorize this as child abuse based on this small portion of info.

If you want to judge it might be better to judge based on what is purchased in a weekly shopping trip.... Look at how many items are purchased where there are numbers in the ingredients, how many convenient snack foods there are etc compared with fresh fruit and vege. If there are significantly more sugary/salty snacks then perhaps you might have a case, but 1 or 2 items does not amount to bad parenting, its called providing treats and enjoyment to our kids as they grow.

From a personal perspective, my son loves his fruit and most vege too.... But he also loves a chicken nugget every now and again. Provided he eats largely healthy food am certainly not going to deprive him of some 'treat' foods. I believe that if you deprive a child of thee foods over a period of time all you do is encourage this behaviour later in life when they are old enough to choose it themselves.

We are the parents, it is our job to educate and teach these children that 'bad' foods are ok but it is important they don't make up the majority of diets etc. Let's stop judging and start supporting each other so that we are each educated enough to help our kids grow and make responsible choices.

    xx.

Denying kids junk foods can bite you on the bum too. How many kids have we all seen denied the good stuff, to get out of home & binge on it? I did, & I wasn't denied all that much! You have to teach a child. Everything in life will have an impact. If you don't guide/teach your kids as well, nothing will work!
Oh so completely true that is! My mother did it and yep, we scoffed when we could... my brother in particular and the aftermath wasn't pretty lol. I can't believe all that junk you're talking about wow.... crazy!

Talking about looking into peoples shopping trolleys... I did that today as I was walking around the shop. And came across a strange mix when I was at the counter, a middle age man - dressed nicely and neat, in his trolley he brought: 12bags of chicken chips the big size. 5 each of beetroot, corn, peas and pineapple, something in paper from the deli. toilet paper - it was such a random trolley...

I know! There's 10 pages yet only 5 or so of them are about the topic. I love it!

I'd love some chocolate chocolate chocolate cake recipes too. I could feed it to my kids for breakfast.

We don't have junk food very often so it's a treat in our house as well... I don't judge others for what they feed their kids, it's none of my business and if you want to judge me for what I feed my kids then feel free to listen to me tell you to mind your own business.

but have to add *drools* for:

    fries in cheeseburgers! yum

maple syrup and bacon! yum, we have pancakes with ours, it's usually our Christmas morning brekky, a very special treat.
