Actually, I just remembered - DD1 sat on DH's lap the other day and asked for a kiss, which he gave her and she said 'No Daddy. Open your mouth.' DH was like no way. So she started trying to pry his mouth open with her fingers. It was sooooo funny.

Sorry a bit off topic, but thought I would share. Poor DH didn't know what to do

Usually on the lips here with many cheeks and foreheads and hands for good measure. I think it is lovely.

This thread reminds me of a comment my Mum made once

"you should never kiss a baby on the lips"

It came from generations ago when there were lots of diseases that were fatal back then such as Colds, Flu, Polio, Chicken Pox and all the things that there are now immunisations for now.
It came about as you never new you had the virus until you were gravely ill, so kissing a baby on the lips thus passing on your saliva would then give them the whatever you had and usually ended up fatal .

On saying that....I kiss heaps and heaps! Not always on the lips, everwhere I can. I loove kissing my kids and they giggle and squirm when I just can't stop!

I kiss their forehead, but when they come to kiss me it's on the lips. I'm not sure why I don't kiss them on the lips? lol.

Umm no I don't. Dunno why, I've never actually thought about it. I was told never to kiss a newborn on the lips, and I dunno - I kiss my kids a lot, on their cheeks, neck, forehead, back of head,.... but yeah, never their lips.

I find it gross, sorry but thats my honest opinion.

Each to their own, but I definately do not kiss kids on the lips nor does dp, and if anyone did, I wouldnt be very polite about it.

On the lips here!! My whole family kisses on the lips. I kiss my mum and dad and brothers on the lips, lol. But not other people, then I'd be really strange. We were talking about this the other day with my mum's partner whose family don't kiss on the lips, they think it's gross and weird. I think they are weird for thinking anything strange about kissing a child on the lips.

I am not comfortable with kissing kids on the lips. I much prefer kisses on forehead or cheeks or arms or feet.

I am extremely uncomfortable with people other than parents kissing kids on the lips.

we kiss on the lips. I don't mind family kissing her on the lips but am hesitant to let anyone else (even closest of friends) kiss her on the lips.

We have had issues with DD wanting to do "married" kisses (AKA a pash as seen on various kids shows ) with everyone. I had to put my foot down on that one as she has just turned 3 at the time...

We do "crazy" kisses or "attack of the kisses" which is smothering in kisses rapidly all over the face whilst tickling... she loves that

We always get big slobbery kisses on the lips from DD, it's funny though cos if she's not sure about someone and they go to give her a kiss she turns her cheek.

me and hubby kiss our kids on the lips, of course!

but anyone else i would find it a bit weird. maybe Grandma and Grandad is ok, but anyone else would be innappropriate.
