we are pretty comfortable nudies around here lol its not like we sit around nude but the kids have seen it all and we all shower together and i dont know if it is just my house but it is impossible to have a shower without someone walking in lol
my kids have all showered with nanna and poppy too and i am pretty sure at least one of them has even showered with my brother and sister. I want my kids to know that bodies come in all different shapes and we are all beautiful...
DH and i were actually talking about this after that thread about kissing children on the lips. we were laughing about how we are a rudie nudie family and wondered if that was seen as politically incorrect too
DH sleeps in the nude and has no problem being nude...we live on 20 acres in the country so a dip in the pool nude isnt unheard of either....DD would see me nude when im getting dressed or showering, we shower together often, sometime as a family!
DD is only 2 but im sure that as she grows up there will still be nudity, i cant imagine my DH starting to wear PJs anytime in the future! although i think there is a time when i becomes inappropriate, like having a conversation with your teenage daughter whilst nude might be pushing it a little
I think aslong as its done in an innocent and natual way and no one has a problem with it i dont see the problem with it, i think it helps foster a healthy body image for young people, which i think is important!
Actually on the topic of nudity and family members, we've just had my inlaws here for 2wks. Ds1 walked into the bathroom the other day while MIL was in the shower mistakenly thinking it was me. Afterward she laughed and said he was sort of like "Oh its you, sorry Nanna" then looked at her funny..................he couldnt figure out where her other boob was (she's had a mastectomy on the left side due to breast cancer) She said she prob scarred him for life but you know, he hasnt mentioned a word about it. It just didnt occur to him that it was anything really important or unusual
No worries with nudity here either. My older 2 kids get a warning that I am naked, but they don't care as they've grown up with me like this... they'll often bring DD2 to me when I am already in the shower and she wants to join me. DH is a little more reserved and he won't be naked around the older kids, probably because he is their step dad but has been in their lives forever (especially DD1's) but he & they find it awkward, which is fair enough. DH has no problem being naked around DS2 & DD2 though but says he will still cover up when they're older.
We both bath with the toddler (and she's permanently naked) but the older one showers alone, refuses to let us see her naked and pretty much runs screaming when either of us are even a few garments short of fully dressed. She's almost 10 and skinny as a rake, so very much prepubescant. Tweens!!
both the kids have seen me in the nude but no more.I dont have an issue with it up untill a certain age i think at this point there too old DS1 is 11 and DS2 is 6 DS2 every now and then see's but not alot
I can't quite remember when I last went to the loo at home or had a shower without interruption - our girls are pretty used to seeing us both naked and they bath together so they see each other too. DP doesn't shower with DD2 anymore - and won't again until she is old enough to understand that doodle is not a handle I think he was in pain for a while after that!
Nudity is normal in this household, I used to see my parents, I still see my siblings (heck I've had to strip them off after huge parties and put them to bed, I seriously need to pay for my little brother to have a back'sack'n'crack wax , I still see my older brother naked all the time)
There was no hiding from my xp's kids, so I gave up after a while and if they wanted in the shower with us, they got in the shower with us.
DH and I both sleep nude, walk to the bathroom nude, shower with the door open, the kids often jump in the shower with us lol DS is starting to do the whole cover up when I walk in the bathroom while he's showering or getting dressed and that's fine, he doesn't really batter an eyelid at us being naked though because it's just part of our "norm". I think kids will let you know when they are uncomfortable with it.
Yep nudies here too! Bella baths or showers with me but prefers to shower with Dh - we are all cool with it.
