No they aren't really compatible although in saying that ds's take and play train sort of fits on his wooden rails although the die cast train is a little bit too narrow but it doesnt bother him. The cheaper wooden train tracks are compatible with the Thomas wooden train tracks though. We have a cheap set from baby bunting (saw a similar one in kmart) and the imaginarium one fits too. Hope that all makes sense!
