What do you love about having a little boy?

I know, strange question in some ways. I just found out at my 20 week ultrasound this morning that I am having a boy . I never even considered the possibility that it would be a boy. To be brutally honest I would not have tried to get pregnant if I knew beforehand it would be a boy. I so wanted a second girl and know that I am now grieving for what will not be.

So in an effort to get a different perspective and not feel resentful to the thing that is inside me right now (I know not a healthy attitute) please tell me...

what you love about your little boy(s)?

how do they get on with an older sister if they have one?

And just so no-one gets too worried about my attitude I am seeing a psychiatrist at the hospital already for issues to do with my last baby being premature so I will have a professional to talk to about my feelings about this.

Boys are rough and tumble. Boys will almost always eat their food. If there is an issue, they have a punch on, and then get on with it. Girls will whinge and whine and carry on about the issue for AGES.

Boys play with TRAINSETS!! And Lego! And they play with DIRT! All these things are awesome excuses for us to get dirty and just hang out.

Boys love dinosaurs. And soldiers. And footy and cricket.

But I'm biased. I have 2 boys and they are absolutely awesome. I grew up with a brother a year older than me, and another brother a year younger. We're all close now

Thanks Divvy. I am good with dirt, had train sets myself as a kid and as one of two girls my father treated us like boys anyway. Miss K will love all that as she is already a good dirt eater.

It is good to hear you are close to your brothers as an adult as that is something that also worried me. I know quite a few people who are not close to siblings of the opposite sex as adults and had a disagreeable time with brothers as they were growing up. But that was when they were older and gee my sister and I did not get on for a while as well.

To me: Boys will give life to you straight, they will make you truly laugh, and they will fill your heart with fun and laughter. We're also expecting a boy right now, and hope very much so that he comes home to run-amok as i've heard boys do.

It started off as a quick thing and we were still going at 9pm that night

I only have a girl (who I was convinced was a boy) so I cant say what boys are like, but from what I have heard, boys are more loving and cuddly and love theri mummy. My little girl isnt like that at all, little miss independent! I wish she was cuddly! I cant wait to oneday have a boy

I don't have kids, but I have a nephew and he is amazing! He never doesn't want you around, always wants to get in and play and ALWAYS gets so much joy from his family. He says things to his mum (My sis) like, "mummy, you are so beautiful" and "You are the prettiest mummy in the world"!

Who wouldn't melt hearing that from their little boy!

DOn't fear, it's ok to feel awkward through adjusting to this news, but even if you don't know it, you are already in love with him

When I fell pregnant with my DS I really thought I was having another girl, so when I got told I was having a little boy I was shocked, a lil bit disapointed but still happy that I would have 1 of each...

What I love about my lil man

The love and affection I get from him, that he will always come to me for cuddles when scared or upset, i even fell in love with the boy clothes! One thing with him having an older sister, he does have a strong feminime side, it may be something that he grows out of, but if not I won't be bothered because he isn't rough!! They get along quite well but do have their fights and I find DD yells at him more then anything.

I think once you have your lil man in your arms, you will just fall in love and be so happy to have him!

I don't have a son but do have a little brother. We are only 16 months apart and have always been close, there were tense times mostly as angsty teens and the odd fight here and there but I know he would always be there for me if I needed, despite me being the older one! One time in high-school when I was walking home from the bus an older guy driving along the road kept stopping and asking if I wanted a lift, I continued to decline but he would not stop hassling me so I called my brother and he ran the 7 blocks to come walk me home so brothers are definitely handy!

I have a son who I love to bits and wouldn't change for the world. He's always on the go and is very affectionate towards me.

I also love having a brother. No other girls to be b*****y with, just someone who always looked after me (despite being younger).

They are such mummies boys! While they are young they adore their mummies. I get soooo many kisses and cuddles from my little man who is now 6. He is so cute and affectionate. I often get scenarios like this:

Hahaha! Sometimes I get cranky from it but he always pipes up something sweet. I'm so lucky Love my little man so much. Even though I now have two grown up sized brothers, no matter how manly they are, you can tell that they adore their mother and would kill to protect her. Its so sweet.

i adore my son, he is nearly 3 and he is so funny, im forever saying how cute is that kid to my DH, he sings little songs all the time and is always making us laugh, he is also a snuggle bum and is always jumping on our laps for cuddles, he is so sweet, we have a DD 2 years older than him and they are so close and attached to one another, she is like a mother hen to him and they love each other so much

I have three little boys. They are the light of my life. From what Ive seen of friends daughters, what Im told about boys being easier to raise seems to be true.

From my experience: boys love unconditionally, they are ready for anything and often quite easy going, they are laughs a minute funny, they are devoted to their mothers, they like to do all sorts of fun things.

My boys are the best of friends. I know if they had a sister she would be valued and loved and protected with every fibre of their being. Infact they desperately want a sister, its all they ask for. They seem to be alot closer than alot of siblings I know, I think maybe it has something to do with them being entirely nonjudgemental and less emotional. Obviously Im only speaking from my one sided experience.

Dont feel bad about the way you feel, alot of us have been there. I was there myself when pregnant with my third son. I love my boys but I desperately wanted a girl. Fast forward two years to now; and I cant even begin to convey how much I adore my youngest son. He is my soul mate. He has made me want 1000 son's he is that amazing. He makes people gush wherever we go. Just beautiful.

Your really come into your own as a mother of a boy (or boys), there is something unique and special about that mother-son bond. Congratulations!!

and watching my DH and DS (whose only 14 months) rough and tumble and chase each other and laugh and giggle is just heart melting stuff.

and he loves loves loves his cuddles! and his dog... any dog really!

From an early age he's been right into trucks and wheels and "things that spin"... not just into, obsessed! He loves to figure out how things work.

I just love little boys. We don't know what our number 2 is but i'm happy either way. LIttle boys are just so wonderful... and I love dressing him in his little shorts and shirts and his man-singlets lol.

I don't have boys and so far that's the way I wanted it but I desperately hope our next baby is a boy, for so many reasons, the biggest one being DH wanting his son..... Someone to pass down the family name, a little footy player (DH even hopes to coach)..... I look forward to the Tonka trunks, Lego, and down the track, guitar lessons!!!!

I am also the youngest of 3, I have twin brothers who are older than me and love it. I have always loved having them around and now I enjoy having their sons around. I LOVE having girls but it is so nice to have boys around too, it really levels things out.

Forgot to add I LOVE the little clothes. I love buying for my nephews just as much as I love buying my girls beautiful outfits. Have you seen the funky little jeans with button up shirts and a little tie?! Hehehe

Hi, I understand, I was a bit surprised at my 20 week ultrasound too. For no reason at all I was expecting to have a girl, I think my son tricked me by telling me to call him "Felicity" as his foetus name (Yes, I had conversations with him, and I swear at 12 weeks he answered the question "what shall I call you?" with "Felicity"!). But I digress, having a boy is no different to having a girl, there are no innate differences between the two, only cultural and social ones. I do all the fun things with my son and he loves them as much as every other child. Painting, dress-ups, playing with jewellery, baking, climbing trees, origami, playdough etc etc, he even helps me cook and clean (well, sometimes!)

Babies are just people, you really don't need to treat them differently because of their sex. My son is a sweet, thoughtful, funny little person, and I am so so happy he is in my life, he's really great company.

PS I have only one child, but he loves to play with older children or either gender.

He is the ants pants. What I love about my little freckle??? He gives me cuddles, and kisses that I don't see him giving to daddy
