It's hard with the older sibling isn't it? I make sure the boys are occupied (with an activity, toys or TV) before putting DD down, then I put a CD on in her room and put the fan on so it makes a bit more white noise. This seems to help drown out her brother's noise!

I don't think the radio would interfere with your Angelcare monitor as it doesn't cause vibrations. You will probably here it through your unit though

My DD doesn't sleep alot during the day either..I sometime put her under the play gym and she just drifts off, I leave her there as it sometimes easier than transferring. Same with the bouncer.

I have heard you can buy a CD of just white noise..apparently white noise is good to help babies settle.

    Good luck

    I have this problem!!

I find playing a baby music CD (ie - 'music for dreaming') when I'm putting DS2 down helps to drown out the DS1 noise. And definitely have ds1 engaged in an activity when you put ds2 down - if possible!!
I also put my DS2 on his tummy (controversial, I know). Only way I could get either of my boys to self settle and for me to get any more than an hours sleep at a time! I love the fact that they cant watch you walk out of the room! (However, I wouldn't recommend it unless you have an organic mattress though as the standard ones are treated with flame retardant chemicals which have been linked to SIDS).

i have been teaching my DD to self settle lately , and so far i have been standing by her cot singing to her , she stuffs around whinges a bit but nothing like CIO .

after 3-4 nights of standing by her cot , i moved to the wall near her door , still singing to her as she falls asleep . eventually i plan to stand by her door , giver her a little song and shut the door .

im taking a slow and steady way , it feels nice to sing your kids to sleep asweel , once they feel confident falling asleep on thier own , they will sleep a whole lot better ...

before that i uses a lullby CD but she would just stare at the blue light and say " song song " so i turned it off .

My DS is so loud and burst into her room aswell , i get him to sit where she cant see and have him relax listenting to my singing for 10mins or so ... or i turn the cartoons on

In response to the Angelcare monitor & the radio, I leave the radio on an "off station" for the white noise and as long as the radio is far enough away from the angel bit and the sensitivity turned down a notch or two, you don't even hear it through the monitor. Needs bubs to squeak to push it over the edge when set to sound activation.
