They are like little babies arent they. If the vet calls you to say it is parvo it might be worth letting the breeder know as it might come back that some other owners have called her to say the same thing. Its also in their best interests to know if they are breeding puppies as anywhere the dogs have pooed is highly contageous even if the poo has been cleaned up, it will need to be bleached. We got our dog from one of the best pet places in Sydney. His hole litter contracted it.
Also just letting you know that dogs can survive this. My little man did even after they called us in to come and say goodbye to him. I begged them to give him one more night. He had already been on an IV drip for 3 days (I was a mess and because they are puppies and dont have alot of fat reserves, he just became a tiny ball of bones and fur), but he started to get better and eventually after 10 days we had him home and boy is he a strong dog now. Stomach is a bit sensitive but he is a happy little thing. Your little Chuckie also has the advantage of knowing that he has a fantastic home to go to back to with eople who love him and that will keep him fighting.
So they can get better.
On a side note; Have you read the book Marley & Me? Its by a man called John Grogan and is a true story about a couple who bought a lab as their practise baby and then started their own family and how they dog fit into that place. Highly recommend it over the movie that it was made into. It may give you a good cry but I think you could probably really relate to the story.

They certainly do become part of the family very quickly, and are like your babies. DS and I call our dogs the fur kids

Just rang for an update: They said he's had some pretty bad diarrhoea and they still want him to stay in there. They've given him meds both oral and by injection (not sure what though) but haven't got him on IV fluids yet, but they will if the diarrhoea continues. They also said he's been still fairly bright (which he has been since I took him in but he wasn't last night).They said to ring back in a couple of hours to check again.
poor wee poppet. glad they are looking after him so well and it is good news that he is not on the IV at this stage as it means that his dehydration is not a mega concern atm.
i am sure he will pull through AOK, it's just like babies, when they are that little they do need an extra bit of help to kick infections.
Chuck is home. He is looking much better. The vet said his pooh is still soft but not liquid like it was. He has some scouban medication to take as well as some antibiotics. So good to have him home.
We have a golden retriever too, he's 2 now and so different to the little ball of fluff we first brought home! He's a lovely dog, even if he is a bit nutty at times
