I think that giving them some work sounds like a good idea.
If you do fall off you need to get straight back on them - it's easy to lose your nerve if you delay and your horse can tell if you're nervous from your body languauge which will make them nervey.
Unfortunately you can't become a good rider without falling off heaps.

ETA - I wouldn't ride them in the round yard. I would ride them in the paddock. On a toey horse I always like to have more room around me. I'm not scared of much but the thought of being tossed onto rails does worry me.

ETA 2 - Then again if you feel more comfy in the yard that might be better for you. I'm really no help because I'd just chuck a saddle on them and enjoy the explosion lol.
