Benny had the surgery, it went well. Three punctures around the neck/jaw were tricky, but OK. The two on the back of neck/head were a lot deeper, and a lot harder. Consequently, there's a good risk he'll re-tear, which would require extra surgery. Suffice it to day, he'll be in for tomorrow at least.

I know it maybe no consolation, but the fact that they were able to put him on the list for postponing the surgery the first day has to be a good sign. I've done surgery in a clinic that closed at 7pm around 10pm because we had no choice, so its a good thing they were able to postpone it initially. The second thing is that he is staying tonight. If they are concerned, the best place for anything to happen to him is in the vet clinic. They will keep him contained and get to him as soon as they can.... The majority of vets I've worked with are all the same, they prioritise according to life or death need.

    I hope he recovers quickly!

Well Benny is home but he looks dreadful - he is all shaved and has hundreds of stitched and 2 drains in his neck. He has to stay inside for 2 days until his drains are out and then his stitches will be out on 2 weeks. He looks like something that Dr Frankenstein has put together

Oh no, poor Benny. Maybe you can nickname him drain-o till the tubes come out!! Glad the surgery went well.

poor drain-o! If your girls are anything like Pip, you'll have more problems keeping them away from him than from him pulling out his tubes. All the best for a speedy recovery.

Thanks for asking after him - he is doing really well and had his stitches out on Saturday. He is a bit more subdued and less bouncy than he used to be but he has pretty much made a full recovery.

If you want to see the graphic pics you can click here (they are graphic though so if blood and stitches make you queasy don't look!)
