It's not great news. Tink had to be sedated to have the blood taken, and while she was out he shaved her neck to check her pulses as he picked up a heart murmur about 18 months ago. She has a jugular pulse, which along with the murmur and the sudden weight loss is indicative of a worsening heart condition. Probably 6 - 12 months but then if she gets much worse during that time we will have to make the humane decision for her. She's still not eating much but as her kidneys and liver are fine and there's no cancer at least she's not in pain - she's just running out of steam as her heart is not doing what it should.
At least I have some time left with her for fuzzy snuggles. Thanks for your support. xox
Oh I'm sorry to hear her heart is not doing so well. Make the most of the time you have left with her and don't forget to take some pictures hon.
We didn't get enough only a couple of picks. We regret that now.
We're having our darling Tink euthanased tomorrow morning. She has barely eaten for the past week - she licks the gravy off her Whiskas, but even that got vomited up yesterday. Called the vet to see if they could do anything else and he said to keep her calm and comfortable and hydrated as much as possible, and to bring her in first thing tomorrow. I have been crying so much I just hope I'm all dried up tomorrow. I know it's the humane thing to do for her, but after 14 years I'm having trouble imagining life with a cat-shaped hole in it.
